Happy days with Select a Stable back,if you do this comp then surely you have to enter that, think i will do the 5 for 4 offer and aim at daily prizes and one for the overall

Can't believe Binocular is running, shades of Bolger and the winning derby horse, what was that horse called ? brains gone, did it begin with N? similar non runner scenario then runs and wins

Currently 173rd. I'm crossing my fingers for Binocular, Captain Cee Bee, Cooldine and Big Zeb & Hopefully I can get Dunguib and Punchestown beat. Then Once SOP boots home in the National I'll be rich!!!!

You have to have a dream!!

BPC.
That was a brave sub, going for the big pot.
I wish you luck. A good Festival could put you within striking distance of the leader.
Report JOCI Club March 14, 2010 5:36 PM GMT
TTF heaven for us would be:

Dunguib hacks up in Supreme.
Sizing Europe wins the Arkle.
Zaynar pips Solwhit in the Champion Hurdle.
Barber's Shop romps away with the Ryanair.
Long Run wins the RSA, Punchestowns not placed.
Kalahari King wins Queen Mother, from Master Minded.
Cooldine wins Gold Cup from Denman or Kauto Star.
Big Buck's retains the World Hurdle.
Tarotino wins Byrne Group Plate at a big price.

Most important:

Zaynar
Cooldine
Barber's Shop
Kalahari King
Tarotino

New Approach?

Wkik New Approach could only finish second in both Guineas, however, behind the Ballydoyle trained Henrythenavigator. It then emerged that at the latest Epsom Derby forfeit stage New Approach's name had been left in by mistake. However, a week later Bolger revealed that his horse would go to Epsom after all, which led to much criticism from punters and bookmakers alike

Going for the National was the only way I could see myself getting into the top ten. I think without having Dunguib and Joncol in my list it's already over but you never know!!

BPC. I put a National horse in my top lists. Def the right way forward imo.
Report JOCI Club March 14, 2010 5:52 PM GMT
Not sure I agree about National Horse. I've never been able to pick ther winner of that damn race, so not going to put a TTF horse in to aim for it.

For example, Possol was my idea of the National winner, and look what happened to him last time out.

Our list would have looked so much better had we opted for Tranquil Sea in that list, rather than Tarotino as our Paddy Power horse. Just shows how fine the margins can be between success and failure in this comp.

I'll side with you Joci on Dunguib, Sizing Europe, Long Run and Big Bucks.
My dream week continues when Binocular and Solwhit get a 1-2, followed by a Schindlers Hunt, Tranquil Sea 1-2 and Master Minded to retain his crown.
Happy with KS or Denman in the gold cup.

If that all happens I wont even need Black Apalache in the Big one as he wont catch my other horses anyway! :)

I've got Sizing Europe and Binocular in all my lists so things are looking a little brighter after today.

Five hundred or so points is probably a bit too far off the pace in the main competition but at least I can keep dreaming about the Cheltenham prize - with Master Minded, Denman, Kauto Star, Big Buck's, Punchestowns and one or two others still to come.

What's more, I backed Binocular - not with any confidence but, having abandoned Sizing Europe, I couldn't bear the thought of a second of my TTF horses winning unbacked.

finished 16th, from 3 lists. A bit of an anticlimax, as poor old Schindlers and Ballyfitz today were my final runners. but its been a fun final few weeks, just annoying to have got close but not made the top 10. I've already pledged to a mate today that 'next year's my year'. good luck to the winners and those above me.

Most disappointing thing for me has been the lack of interest from rp - a tiny seciton in the paper today. Its still a great competition and they've got to do more to promote it. I was toling before Cheltenham, and then a lucky run of winners put me bang in wih a chance so its very easy for things to turn around. prizemoney slipped this year i'm sure through lack of good promotion and the competition deserves better.

Report Marwood April 15, 2010 4:24 PM BST
Back from a few days holiday, after the slight anti-climax of aintree. the flat comp has never interested me too much, although I have found it a useful way to help get me into the new season. I may yet give it a go with a single list.

I'm not so sure that the PP winner is essential, although its obviously a pretty good start, and it also tends to give you a live runner now for the Ryanair. With the addition of the novice races as bonuses there's a bit more scope to pick up points elsewhere, and while the top 3 I think had him, others in the top 10 did not. I still cant see how I left TS out, as he was exactly the kind of improving Irish chaser that I would have been looking to include anyway to compete in some of those 2m-2m4 graded races. Instead I had the hapless Ballyfitz.
