This looks about the only value left in the big race, class at best, stays, jumps, ground ok,weight competitive! i cant look any further for a bet,but only a small one! :-)
it's definitely of interest, Snowy and Arbor Supreme are the ones I'm looking at, it's back down to a similar weight it was 2 years ago when it went close behind Comply or Die which looks one of the better GN winners of recent years

Backed snowy heavily, Ruby a big miss (it was never guaranteed) - must have someone who knows Aintree to match the horse's experience. David Casey would be fine by me.

i have got to say the handicapper seems to have given last years winner more than every chance? could it be the female presence? could it be time for another national hero who follows up?

Definitely agree that Snowy Morning has a good solid each-way chance. Completely out of form last season and as a result has been given a chance by the handicapper. He's been running well over inadequate trips, but a little surprised that Townend isn't on him..

Have to agree this one ticks pretty much every box:
Excellent 3rd to C.O.D. when carrying 11st 1lb. To my mind 2008 is a better formguide than 2009 (Cerium 5th?!)
Another creditable clear round in 2009 with 11st 8lb.
Still only 10
Placed 21 times out of 29, in good form this season
Will act on likely soft going
Not quite sure what the handicapper was thinking to be honest, seems to have allowed Snowy to drop down the weights for no reason whatsoever. Good value bet.

Would agree with you there Scampy - when the pace-setters hit the deck at Bechers 2nd-time round the race slowed allowing those towards the rear to pick up, hence we had 10-or-so in with a chance coming to the 2nd-last.
Snowy Morning has a great chance with a weight under 11st (so long as Madison Du Berlais runs).

Dont know if anyone saw it but Snowy Morning stumbled very badly on the turn in for home last year, almost unshipping the jockey which lost it any chance. A big player this time around, particularly if the ground is soft or worse.

Lots of plusses and backed some time ago. WM confirmed on Sunday was aimed at this race and also said a few weeks back that they rode him all wrong last year. Will be up with the pace this year. I would like Casey to ride but may be waiting to see if Swan's horse gets in before confirming. Just concerned it may not stay and stamina seems to be the key in recent years.

Personally I disagree about him not getting home on soft ground. If you watch a re-run of 2008 he seems to stay well, just that C.O.D. & K.J.C. stayed better. Snowy certainly wasn't stopping.

if it rains too much more there will be plenty of non runners? puts you off ever having anti post bet? why oh why if whinstone boy gets in the race which it may then its price will be cut in half?

Flanny, Buleseacracker was ridden by A Mcnamara and im sure he is riding Ballyholland. I dont know who else could ride SM. I just hope Mullins dont let his boy on him.

DAVID CASEY, who underwent x-rays on a pelvic injury after a fall at Fairyhouse on Monday, will be back in action at Fairyhouse on Wednesday and is looking forward to the ride on Snowy Morning in the John Smith's Grand National on Saturday.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, Casey said: " The x-rays revealed no fractures and while I was quite sore last night, I'm feeling a lot better today. I went to see (surgeon) Paddy Kenny in Blanchardstown Hospital this morning and it seems I have aggravated an old injury and maybe damaged a few ligaments.
"He said I should rest up today and that it would be okay for me to resume tomorrow when I will ride Boulavogue for Charlie (Swan) in the five runner conditions hurdle. So I should be all set to ride Snowy Morning in the National."
Casey was injured in a fall from An Cathaoir Mor in the Arkle Bar Novice Handicap Chase on Monday. An Cathaoir Mor, winner of the Arkle Cup Chase at Leopardstown in January, broke a leg and had to be put down.

Can't wait for this. Feeling as confident as I ever have been about a National horse. If his jumping holds up, he wins this but that is the big question.

I also like snowy morning but since numbersixvalverde won none of my bets on the grand national have made the first 4. thats a worry, but snowy morning looks very well handicapped this year.

numbersixvalverde was a standout,,,, great result but this is not that well handicaped? i wish it was, very tricky handicap to work out igave up after a while many with chances and i believe one of the most open races i have ever seen, some of the proper outsiders have real chances for one reason and another? hoses like joe liverly tough tough chap hard job on weights but memory would not put you off him?
Many of these have been proper put away??

What about My Will then? At Newbury was giving Snowy 7 pounds in weight and still finished 7 lengths ahead!! This year only carrying 3 pounds more and rated 2 pounds lower than last year when finished 3rd. If Snowy has a good chance, My Will has to be rated aswell and yet can get 55's here for My Will and only 18's for Snowy. Baring in mind had an easier go around cheltenham than last year, so should hopefully have a bit more in the tank and with 2 pounds less and an extra year of experience - got to have a very good chance. Funnily enough last time it won a race was off this mark of 150 giving 11 pounds to a then recent Scottish national winner in Run for Paddy. Tremendous E/W value for sure. Favourite last year and although quiet this year, certainly has the proven talent to take this or go very near.

I'm prbably seeing something that isn't there but I am convinced King Johns Castle has been put away for this and will run a huge race (with the necessary luck in running) 12 lb better off with Comply Or Die from 2 years ago and that swing would probably have seen it beating COD that year.

yes, i caught that Seagram. However, he bases it on his 9th place last year when the horse was practically brought down turning for home and the fact that Snowy was out of form all last season until May. The horse has been dropped markedly in the weights and is in terrific form this season. A definite each way contender who also has an excellent racing weight. Will be very surprised if he is not in the frame.
