Taking Betting Seriously

Pre Season bets

04 Aug 18 21:48
It is always my favourite time of the betting year, the football pre season, always started by the Racing Post Big Kick Off supplement, with some of the best writers on football betting around, led by Mark Langdon.

I always try to get all 4 divisions yankee up, I don't think I have ever have got more than one up, with the best quite a few years ago with Reading at 16/1.

So this year I have done 2 yankees

Man City

Top 3 all have the biggest budgets in their league, Lincoln I think are ready for the step up under the unlikeable Crowley brothers.

The top 2 are momentum candidates, although watching Derby on Friday night they were less than impressive. Peterborough could be anything this season so though 14/1 was value, and I have a feeling Northampton might be to good for League 2.

The relegation market in League 2 has also attracted my interest, Grimsby were lucky to get out of the relegation battle last season, and their manager looked out of their depth, the other team is Cambridge they have lost a couple of key players and have problems behind the scenes, 12/1 looks excellent value.

I fancy Port Vale to go well this year, and have had a small interest in Tom Pope at 20/1 to be top scorer.

Looking at handicaps, I think that generally teams don't get given enough points against the market favourites generally, so have backed Celtic at 9/1 off scratch, will also be looking to back Man City later this week when I study the prem in detail.

In Championship, I think Paul Hurst could be a good appointment at Ipswich and think they are underated so have backed them in the handicap and to finish in the top half, i also have had an interest in Brentford they have lost some good players but they are super consistent and that is a major plus in the Championship.

With a trading viewpoint, I have only 2 trades at the moment, laying the over hyped Salford City on the basis that they may take time to get going, and I think that the market has got Bradford City wrong in League 1 and have backed them at 32.

Focus on Premier League this week
