Yes I wish it was at another track but I will still be glued
My three against the field this year are:-
BUBBLY APACHE currently available at around 25/1
BALLINABOLA ED currently available at around 25/1
EMILYS JET currently available at around 50/1
I did back last years winner at the outset and he will probably go a long way this year at the only track he seems to really fire at but I can’t quite see him winning this time.
I was leaning towards LAUTARO, he’s definitely quick but I don’t think he relishes a battle sometimes (I could easily be wrong); my long shot was going to be DRAHBEG DANDY but he’s picked up an injury (not anywhere near as bad as the one he was off with before).
Not old enough to remember White City but this great sport died in my eyes when Walthamstow closed and Wimbledon "moved" the winning line to the other side. For the first time since I can remember I have no interest in the Derby, tuned in tonight and all its done has confirmed what I sadly knew. Greyhound racing is finished in this country

Carry on Tow , covers it,The 4th bend like nothing I have seen in dog racing , Dogs just seem to be drawn to the Rail , If you watch Kevins dog it Switches Middle Just at the right time ,not many capable of doing that .. I complained at first when it left the city for the Don ,fook me I had no clue where it was Going LOL , Your right Ern the Final Step on the road to its demise was the Side switch at the Don , Even so it was still a lot better than this Caper ..

No more of this Derby for me. Can';t blame the track for any of the winners tonight but very few dogs are running the same race twice and just what Balinabola Ed was doing around 3rd and 4th bends can only be guessed at. Be back in three weeks.

Went to every Derby at Wimbledon from Shanless Slippy onwards and as soon as the final was over I looked forward to next year's one more than anything else! Great dogs like Slippy, Toms The Best, Rapid Ranger,Loyal Honcho and my two all time favourites Some Picture and Westmead Hawk. Sure you got your Allen Gifts and Kinda Ready's in there as well but the buzz has now gone. No atmosphere, duff track, form means nothing and zero media coverage

Tried giving Towcester a chance and I've been to every final there but it's just not fit for purpose. The only dog I've ever seen run there that I could compare to previous winners was Dorotas Wildcat. Would have loved to see him run round Wimbledon with his early he would have blow races apart at the Don

Hello Hammond was breath-taking off the last corner, and just behind came the ever reliable Faughan Rebel serving up usual late stamina, a quality race on the figures!

"What a rich tapestry of wonderful stories that weave through the final 12 in the Greyhound Derby, simply fabulous, the dream continues."
You've got to laugh really.

Yes, the Taps on and Lofty studying the Paul Daniels book of Card tricks .
Lets hope the dog is not attacked at the pick up if he doesn't make the final

To win them I’m going to go ROMEO MAGICO and KILDARE
If I’m trying to find one to win outright from each semi to get through and have a runner in the final at big odds I’d go SAVANA BEAU and COPPICE FOX, both comparatively lightly raced and could improve their best times so far by a couple of lengths
All the best

Seems to have lost his way , But only had 14 Races ,would not be shocxked to see an improved run tonight

I thought that i would have a look in to see whats happening for the first time in a while and, like the sport, its dead. They have done a hatchet job on dog racing.
I tried to watch some of the derby, but towcester is awful. I cant work out whats wrong with the place but its rubbish racing. That 3rd bend is like the bermuda triangle.

As many have said on here about Towcester, it's an absolutely dreadful track.
If someone had told me, say 2 years ago, that during the 2022 English Derby I would not have any ante post vouchers on the go nor even had a single bet throughout the entire competition then I would have to assume that I had lost my marbles and the men in white coats had finally come for me.

I haven't been to the Derby since Wimbledon shut but £30 entrance money seems a bit over the top especially as it's in the arse end of nowhere. At the prices i'd be backing Jet especially as no rain is forecast.

just happened to see a greyhound race on TV from Newcastle on the horse racing channel. Betting 113% over round the top 4 in the betting. The 14/1 outsider beat the 10/1 shot. No wonder the sport is struggling!

The problem with Towcester track is that basically it’s shaped like a large scale Romford
Mind you the cockerneys love it there too, gawds only knows, why, another bookmakers paradise, unless of course your name is Ray……

I've never been to Romford, only once to Catford. It was quite a journey from West London and Catford was much sharper than even Wimbledon or Walthamstow.
I like Tp4: coffin box though; needs to clear 1st bend or be 2nd post; 6 & 2 are dangers. Is it being shown live here or RPGTV?

Yes Impossible, Towcester is on RPGTV tomorrow. First race 18.04, last is 21.40. The final itself is @ 21.15.
I've not had a bet all competition but if pressed I'd just favour Kildare to get the run.

This has to be all time low for the Derby and a crying shame after all those wonderful years of top class finals in front of massive crowds . To think that 92,000 people attended the 1939 final and here is some facts telling us just how far the decline of the sport has travelled.
"A general trend of dwindling attendances has had a clear knock-on effect to the number of greyhound tracks still active today.
The stats are alarming. In 1946, for example, which came a matter of months after the end of the Second World War, the total annual attendance for greyhound meetings in the UK topped 70 million, with nearly £200 million wagered per year. In 2017, attendances were down to just two million with just £75 million spent on the various bet types available.
Arguably most troubling is that there are just 21 licensed tracks in England and Scotland – down from 77 licensed premises and 200 independent tracks in the 1940s, with Harlow and Crayford the only tracks within spitting distance of the sport’s spiritual home in London. Seventy years ago, there were 33 independent dog tracks in the capital alone, but the demise of Wimbledon and Walthamstow has been indicative of the issues that organisers face".

Such a shame what’s happened but at least us old boys have some great memories, I know stuffing one has been going on for yonks but when you see one where a dog been running out of its skin then lead tonight and fall in hole before half way you just have to knock it one the head and I never indulge in the race, gonna go against all my beliefs tomorrow night and punt Callmesteve and 3 in final 2 and 3 places and will not bet there again

Yes I forgot about the ante-post market case so perhaps a more lively market available tonight. Mind you I'm not one to bet 24 hours before the off and more like 24 minutes will be soon enough for me. I wonder if all those who used to post on here and attended the final will be there tonight?

Have the 'rag ' at 110 in tiny ew , which will do me . Have still enjoyed the competition despite the track problems and getting one out of half a dozen through is always the aim . Yes I also preferred White City and the Don .
