Tbh i dont think it will discourage anyone coming from Ireland etc as its not really about the prize money when it comes to winning a derby.

Report cappo December 15, 2009 8:22 PM GMT

im back. I know what you are saying but surely our premier race should be worth more than that. How are you going to attract new owners with such crap money everywhere
Report prism December 15, 2009 10:13 PM GMT
If all potential sponsors had been asked, it is probable that it would have got more than 75k
Report eastmead December 15, 2009 10:16 PM GMT
BGBG could top up the Derby for a year. Cut the capital Grants to tracks.
Report n6 December 16, 2009 8:36 AM GMT
so a 25% cut in prize money...I assume that will be accompanied by a 25% cut in entry fees????
Report CUPRA December 16, 2009 8:44 AM GMT
A very good idea to put up a bonus for winning at Sunderland too.Ask the Kinda Ready boys how much the money means - the feeling of seeing your dog cross the line in front is worth the drop!

Considering we slate the bookamkers enough times (and with good reason) the sponsership Hills have put up is outstanding, and they will grant coverage in the shops.

what makes you say that Prism?

Gents, as a lucky part owner, I can confirm that the prize money was and is the last thing on your mind. The only money issue we had was the size of bar bill pre-race and that disappeared shortly after 28:65 seconds!!

It is sad to see the money drop but Im sure we will be seeing the same level of entries next year and everyone still as egger to win the greatest greyhound prize.

We will be their trying to regain the trophy that we have enjoyed borrowing for the last 12 months.

Good Luck
