No. Punters who do their homework can easily spot the real season date in some cases. This is great when they do appear back on the card as you are having 10/1 a 7/4 chance.

I feel lack of proper info in greyhound racing is part of its decline. In fact no season date has to be declared at all if a ** is injured and then comes in to season - that cannot be right in my opinion.
My feeling is that as much info as possible should be made available to the betting public - perhaps to include some form software program, of which horse racing has aplenty.
The more information that is not generally available leads to bookmakers inflating margins as an insurance policy, and consequently in general, betting on greyhounds becomes less appealing to increasing number of punters, the declining attendances follow etc. etc.

count yourself lucky that some take theres off card, i dislike trainers who give incorrect season dates. But i DETEST the ones who run them through season thus making a dog you back at 7/4, a 20s chance.

they started not appearing in general about a year the before stow shut, i initially chased it up and it was the fault of the press association i was told by racing office and rp, it got so lapse you can't blame anyone for not declaring above it is a perk
it just means more work and i am firmly of the theory whoever does the work deserves it

Fair comment about whoever does the work deserves it. Just think its head in the sand stuff from greyhound racing though if cannot make information more readily available. The shrewdies and people that work harder at it will still have the edge, however if too much cloak and dagger stuff then it just puts a lot of people off imo

i do totally agree millbay, but what can we do? as said i did get on the case because i don't fear a level playing field but they were all useless to speak to and didn't give a fck. I give back by owning (**es ;) ) but what more can i do on my own at the moment?

No worries czech. Like us all just want greyhound racing to turn things around from the current downward spiral - think by not attending to some of the basic things such as season dates gives a negative impression

czech plent of liquidity? unless you want to lay silly prices about something its very hard to lay more than a a monkey/ bag tops about a runner on the bags service. occasionally better at a few tracks, but thats only down to people not being able to get on in the shops all wanting to play same dogs

Its a tricky one to be honest and there is always the underlying assumption that a ** will be at her best at 16-17 weeks, but that is not always the case. As a recreational punter, I used to find it frustraiting but you can usually work it out. Flying Winner had a whole career as "season unknown" but you could usually tell. And what about supression, is it mandotary to declare? EGG's point that it is a perk of ownership rings true but it just saves you doing the work that others do anyway. I'm sure the books at the Don know the season dates; declared or not. BTW and for the record. Our eponymous ** went into season on October 10th and will be back in January. Have no idea what it will say on the racecard!

u can usually tell season dates by a break and running poorly , dont bet in the races u cant work out , its all part of the game , switchy from this post and others its time u took up tiddlywinks , instead of trying to highlight the things you think are wrong use them to your advantage good luck switchy
