Good post. Some people that moan on here are £2 peasants who do not go racing but in return expect to have live pictures and other boons.

Irish dogs only need 1 trial and can have as many unofficial trials as they like. So the game is much more**than over here.
There are plenty of ponces on here but whats that got to do with the good racing folk of coventry getting stitched up last night.
Get some more bookies in somehow, charge them NOTHING if you have to, even PAY them to do it, but if you dont you might as well shut the gaff down

What is the solution you all seem to have detrimental remarks but can you supply the answer?

yes dont go there them percentages the bookies should have a mask on

beetle...the answer is for them to stand and bet to much lower percentages..do you think they will and if they won't why critisise those that are standing?

don't get me wrong I'm not a bookie nor a 'bookie lover' but the constant bashing of all aspects of the sport...and in particular the views of those who think the sport only exists as a leisure/betting past time for punters is starting to grate

what u have to understand is the % book is okay if track bookmakers lay every dog, but the simple fact is they dont, they might lay only 2 or 3 dogs a race and they are the ones people want to back, i would like to see any of you make money on betfair if you only layed the best 2 backed dogs in a race.

I have heard that mark hill has packed up and the other bookmaker was returning off two boards. The second one with moody prices thats why they returned so awful. Fruit refused to bet straight from what I hear. PA require prices to be on two boards to be able to return a sp.

fruit and veg got the best pitch there by a mile going to miss that over 100k a year when it close

I have bet at many tracks including flaps and NEVER priced up a race as badly as that

If the track cant get bookmakers to pay to stand then let them stand for free
Or they might as well close down

some amazing reasons why the books bet so bad
1. they cant lay every dog - should consider themselves lucky that they can lay any dog when they've got 140% on the board. and do they really think that the horse racing books lay every horse or that ladcrooks lay every football team when they price up a football match
2. theres no punters in the ring so it doesn't matter - if there are no punters there then why not bet to 110%. it might encourage a few to go to the next meeting
3.greyhound racing is not all about gambling - yes it is
its not like football where if you remove the gambling the sport survives
if thres no gambling there will be no greyhound racing (except maybe local clubs like whippet racing)

If I read that they were returning 115% - 120% books most meetings I would venture back. With those returns they can carry on without me.

cheap ring I agree re letting bookies stand for free...especially at tracks where they can't lay a hooker.

however the short sighted management probably think the less bookies or the poorer the bookies odds the more they'll get on the tote!!
