"THE NATIONAL WALK A GREYHOUND DAY "
it would need tracks and retired greyhound kennels to be involved, also trainers too, lots of greyhounds dont get to be walked on a Sunday by their owners, we often took a few extra greyhounds out for our trainer each Sunday,so why not in the summer or spring designate a day when kennels and tracks and retired greyhound kennels have an open day where dogs can be walked ,it could lead to a sponser a greyhound scheme where people can walk the dog say once a month
I am sure they would then like to go and watch the dog race etc,it all needs tweaking but sure it could be done,a certificate for kids, some stickers etc,
People in the modern world are bored easily ,you only have to look in the retail parks on a Sunday people shopping just for something to do, come on whoevers in charge lets get people to know about greyhounds and not let them just be a anonymous number going round a track, they could have a big greyhound character going round schools with a leaflet for the kids mums and dads to join in,book a time to walk greyhound etc,leeds rhinos took their mascot to my childs assembly and he pestered me to death to go see him at a game, it only needs aiming at the say up to 10 year olds but it would work

Free entry once a month to people bringing kids, the programme lists all their 'personalities' good photos of hounds at home with kids blah blah. Open the paddock after for the family to meet the dogs, see how they are not aggressive and would be easy to keep as pets. Get a jackpot going, like they do a national bingo thing - have you seen how the ol' girls keep coming out for those in Chadwell Heath? You are right, it needs appealing to the masses. The game is forgotten as an enjoyable night out. get some well-known names behind an advertising campaign. Thanks |
