Yeah, was an absolute gift for Rory after the great round yesterday to get perfect conditions today but it's like he refuses to do anything the easy way. Will unusually good with the putter today, but can it hold out at the business end?

Who do you think from here TB? JT been flawless but will need another 2 days of that. 4 superb rounds needed from wrong side of the draw, fair chance it catches up with him at some point.

I don't fully trust Will and think he's quite short nowl, he's very good but there's reasons he's not won and you don't often see guys get their first wins in majors. Tomorrow is going to be a really strange day weather-wise, wet and fairly calm in the morning then getting both breezier and colder in the afternoon around when the leaders go out. So maybe an opportunity for early starters to go low and then have the leaders come back. The only problem with that is that anyone not starting in the last hour or two of tee times is a long way back. Still quite like where Rory is, maybe also Fitz.

if you want to make series money, lay pereria, everyone thats slept on the lead so far has blown up, will treble in price within 18 holes, unless he is the next Tiger

Said earlier in the thread it's rare to see a guy get a first tour win in the majors but Young, Pereira and Zalatoris all in with a great shout. And none would be a massive surprise the quality they have.

Yeah, suddenly there's not a lot of previous winning experience up there. Matt of course done it plenty on the DP tour but seems to have been a bit of a mental block for him in the States. It's been the experienced guys who have been a letdown today, but that could change tomorrow.

Big ask still in only his second major appearance but there's not a lot of scary names up there. Paired with Fitz who obviously has the edge on experience but isn't really an intimidating presence. Not sure the PGA will be thrilled with the top end of the board but it's certainly intriguing.

Intriguing final day ahead, windfinder forecast has the winds lower today and more accessible pins compared to yesterday, which you feel might not suit fitzpatrick if it turns out to be more scorable as a grind like yesterday would suit him better. Having seen Zalatoris shaking over a 5 footer yesterday it's hard to trust that stroke on a major Sunday no matter how good the ball striking is. Cameron Young is very impressive and if he can post a 66/67 might just get the job done and at around 10s seems only value of those near lead, just feel - 3 and below are too far off, Seamus Power is very impressive, pity Zal hasn't a putting stroke like him. GL.

after two rounds of watching this i felt the ones up top where simply putting better so got me thinking of best putters in with shout and left me with three, zalatoris who was best in putting first two days even with dodgy as hell stroke which showed up yesterday with deadly consiquenzes, cameron smith who just never played well yesterday to get in touch and now out of it, and third and finally one of the best putters for years and now maybe his time fitzpatrick he has such a deadly stroke and never far away from holing out no matter where from and if he can just play a steady game even level par might be enough and win his first major but i am sure his putting stroke being in last group will put dramatic pressure on leader if he sinks a couple early so he would be my choice now for sure.

Dunno if it's the leaderboard or the weather or the nature of the course but there's no real major feel to this at all. Mito probably getting the same vibes as one of his Korn Ferry wins.

I've ended up green had Zal from the start and a bit on JT in the final round I have no idea how Zal has ended up in the play off he looked out of it loads today

funny how we see things differently, i really enjoyed this.
relative unknowns battling to be a major champion on what i thought was a cracking course with some brutal par 3s a few "risk and reward par 4s and "3 shot" par 5s.
i doubt matt fitzpatrick will get a better chance to win a major, both great players but i hope he's not going to become the next lee westwood and both with the same caddie.
jackkat-must be worst major ever.funny how we see things differently, i really enjoyed this. relative unknowns battling to be a major champion on what i thought was a cracking course with some brutal par 3s a few "risk and reward par 4s and "3 shot"
cool_hand_luke 23 May 22 00:00 be surprised if Billy Foster is on Fitzpatricks bag much longer after that. too many poor club choices and didn't give Matt any support what so ever
Not sure you can blame Billy. Going long and left as Fitz did a few times on the back nine is a swing error rather than the wrong club.
Fitzpatrick is only 27 and has made good strides forwards this year. This was his first time in contention in a major yesterday and would have been a good learning experience. He is a good driver of the ball and has an excellent short games especially his putting. Wouldn't be surprised to see him content more in the future.
