This is a disaster. So many job losses will be eventuating out of sports collapsing and who knows where it ends. I hope Betfair has sufficient cash reserves to get them through an extended period without income and that the staff will be ok. Can only imagine job losses in the gambling industry will be extensive.

And will we be able to have a bet whenever sports does return or will all the agencies/exchanges have fallen over by then?

Barring some much needed good news about a treatment or something I think we’re done for many months now. If it peaks around May / June as predicted the restrictions will be very slowly released, and even when sport comes back it may be crowd free for months. I now don’t think any majors will take place as scheduled, the Open if we’re very lucky. FedEx playoffs are August but I’m wondering now if the PGA tour just cancels the season at some point and tries to start the next one as scheduled, leaving the door open to schedule majors in August if they can (with strong suggestion Masters moves to October).

They'll take whatever they can get but a fair chance the postponed majors are simply not staged and we move on next year. A Masters in October isn't really the Masters, just a tournament held at a course that looks like the Augusta we know. It's all rather sad.

How y'all holding up without sport? This is horrible.

I'm already going a bit stir crazy tbh rhino. Doing the self isolation thing as my boy has underlying health issues. This could be quite some time before normalcy comes back - even then it will be different.

Yeah it's hard Hank. Focus on little things, cook your own food and do it well, be adventurous and cook things you have never tried before. Make dinner an occasion as best you can each day. Get some exercise. Don't sit on the internet all day reading news articles. Play games with your boy and other little ones if you can, teach them to play chess. I find that good for the mind and it passes time well. Have a nice bottle of something to enjoy without going overboard as we'll need as much cash as possible in reserve as the job market will be obliterated in the coming months.

Use the time wisely, network on linkedin or your network of choice, good time to keep in touch with people as anyone may find themself needing help or in a position to provide some. Gonna be a very trying time indeed. I plan on enjoying the Masters this year by watching last years final round from start to finish. I recorded it but have never gone back to it as yet. Whatever little things you can think of to enjoy yourself and make life feel normal.

Look after yourself mate.

I was a bit complacent about this early on but having watched crisis unfolding especially in Italy, this is bad. We all love our sport but this is bad.

Stay safe, hopefully chat again new year.
