Major season starting early this year. Hard not to be excited by this field around this course. If I have one reservation it's the fact the winning scores and the names shooting them in recent years suggest the bombers have maybe solved Riviera, but it looks like the course will be dryer than recent years so hopefully they will give the best in the world a proper test - in dry conditions the 10th remains one of the most fun and dangerous holes on tour.
From a betting point of view finding this hard to get into for pre-tournament punts with the top of the market so strong and probably fairly priced, hard to have any confidence in outsiders when big name bombers tend to dominate. Also hard to back any guy who starts on 10 when we've seen many a tournament immediately derailed with a spot of ping-pong around the green. |

Yeah I did wonder that TB about the dryer conditions. Still, hard not to like DJ even after a poor Sunday last week. Also was surprised to see Wolff in the 200s so have thrown a few quid his way.

Quite like Ancer to go well. Arrives in good form and plays really well in Melbourne where the courses have some similarity with Riviera. Had some Grace at 210 earlier in the week and will go some Bubba, because why the hell not.

Si Woo Kim and Talor Gooch Each way 300/1 EW 1/4 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
|
By:
While he's -2 and before he messes up completely I should mention my one outsider play so far is RCB.
|
By:
Rory not exactly putting like number one in the world.
|
By:
Does he ever........
|
By:
Playing like an utter hacker.
Barring driver. |
By:
And he pops one in...lol
|
By:
Rory putting better than Bubba in fairness,JEEZ...Poor.

Hell of a short putts being missed in these feature groups.
Struggling big time. |
By:
Lot of short ones being missed across the board, I guess they have the greens where they want them, should make for a real test by the time the weekend comes.
|
By:
Conditions look utterly perfect yet there struggling, they really are.
Bodes well for the weekend carnage with wind and fast greens... |
By:
You wonder how much say Tiger's had in the setup, he'll want it playing nice and tough. Might be a case of careful what you wish for, he's not as solid over the short ones as he used to be.
|
By:
Tiger looks up for it.
|
By:
Looking tricky now, scores not really progressing.
|
By:
Tiger......tut tut tut.
|
By:
JT picking up where he left off last year.
|
By:
Rahm played very well.
Hoping Stallings finishes off well.par in be great. |
By:
Do wish would show less of JB,irritating man....
Champ or not. |
By:
They're only down to showing 2 groups now so we're stuck with JB. This is definitely the Riv we know and love, and only going to get tougher come the weekend.
|
By:
Stopped another,apologies Rambo fans....
|
By:
If Tiger can get -3 in the house after how he's played the back 9 I imagine he'll be delighted.

Trivia time
If Patrick Cantlay wins this week, what links him to John Merrick and Corey Pavin? |
By:
Think they are all Cali guys so I'm going to guess they won some sort of junior / am event here then won this as pro's?
|
By:
4 missed cuts and a WD in his last 5 starts so I guess we should've seen a Si Woo week coming.
|
By:
Close TB. All went to nearby UCLA.
|
By:
If the course is this good in February, imagine in June for a US Open with more rough grown in and the 1st playing as a par 4. For god sake make it happen USGA. Hopefully the one next door in a couple of years is good.

Magnificent shot ponce
|
By:
horrible start for Kuch
|
By:
Yeah, it's a major venue for sure but I think they've said in the past there isn't the space for all the extra stuff that goes with it and parking etc. Think it's slated for the 2028 LA Olympics so we'll see a summer setup then. Although I'll settle for all the best in the world continuing to visit once a year.
|
By:
No doubt plenty of punters landed the Henley-Varner-Kuchar trifecta
|
By:
What a shot Koepka. Major Brooks has been activated
|
By:
Know there's a bit of featured group coverage still to come but how have the yanks messed up their coverage times so much? Best event of the season so far and you get the start but not the finish of their rounds.
|
By:
It's a valentine's day massacre TB - still sore over the last couple of weeks so am waiting until Sunday to get involved - who you wanting?
|
By:
Well, it was RCB going nicely but he's shipped a couple last couple of holes. Wouldn't mind a Kuchar bogey or 5. For once I've so far resisted going red on Rory.
|
By:
Just as well.
|
By:
You guys think Rory will end his major drought this year?
