Sungjae's got to win sometime, surely?

Phil please, back in California.

Steele looks a decent price still and at home in CA. Yeah TB Im has got to get one soon you'd think, but a skinny price. We've had some funky winners here, so I might pick a couple of mid rangers to get going. Inspiring new name to the tourny eh.

Not sure I quite understand the Sungjae hype, yes he's a promising youngster but less than half the price of Wolff, really?  Thought 80s Todd was ok value given he has two wins and almost a third in his last five starts, and played ok last week.

Wolff, Todd, Steele, Berger, and English to start off.

Mm, Sungjae's price is getting a bit silly now.  This is the sort of blind optimism that's sent Finau fans broke.

Forecast to be flat calm all week so we could see some pretty silly scoring here.  After a bit of a slog last week that could be good fun.  No plays on the main guys but a small play on Long and outsiders for the week Blair and Wilkinson.

Ben An starting -5 through 6, then making 8 consecutive pars followed by a snowman is a very Ben An thing to do.

Is it cruel for me to put Murray on a 59 watch?

Watch as he turns into Si Woo Kim for the rest of the round.  I'd forgotten the guy exists.

Must admit with the top names all playing the easiest course today I thought there's be a few more super low scores.

nice to see forum jinx is unbreakable - played last 5 in even par with the 2 par 5s

Cheers Hank, too long in the tooth to get excited about a good round at La Quinta but I'll take it for a start.

This is why I don't get excited.

Yeah, a struggle on NT and Murray is only -1 thru 8 on LQ after smashing the SC. Odd game at times!

Calm down, Rickie, let's make a game of it, eh?
By:
Hank Hill
When: 17 Jan 20 20:38
Yeah, not what is needed - I was hoping there'd be too much water for Rickie - usually a tourny for one of the lesser players to come through - still, start making pars at the w/e and you go backwards, so fingers crossed

Rickie 3 up with that weird mess up by Scottie

Most of the water is on SC, which is the one he's still got to play twice, so there is still hope.

I backed 3 players who did well at SC yday and only Landry doing anything

If I could combine Blair's Thursday with Wilkinson's Friday I'd be doing OK.

Big Tone in the mix - another nearly from him I'm assuming

Best player in the world if he starts in about T60, absolute donkey if he starts T5.

Even though he's 4th favourite Landry could have the biggest say in how this goes, NT seems to be the course yielding the proper low rounds so he's the guy who could really push the leading score.
By:

Yes, I would hope for him to be in the final pairing, but who knows.

NT and LQ both playing about the same, SC a stroke harder.  This is a sneaky good course imo, the architecture nerds won't agree but I think a sh1t load of water tends to do the job in terms of entertaining Sundays.

Looks like Zac won't be making me rich after all.

Shot 7 in the hole
Shot 6 48 ft 10 in. to green, 7 ft 10 in. to hole
Shot 5 3 ft 9 in. to right rough, 45 ft 11 in. to hole
Shot 4 6 ft 10 in. to right rough, 42 ft 10 in. to hole
Shot 3 16 ft 1 in. to right rough, 47 ft 5 in. to hole
Shot 2 102 yds to right rough, 45 ft 5 in. to hole
Shot 1 258 yds to fairway bunker, 117 yds to hole

Increasingly hard to argue he's genuinely world class, although continues to get bet like he is.  Now if everyone else could chuck in a few howlers I seem to have a 1000 shot T3, but still doesn't feel like he's in contention at all.

Any chance Scottie can start playing like Rickie?

Scheff looks very solid indeed, this is looking like it's Scheffler's rock solid long game vs Landry's hot putter.  Had an inkling from the start of the week Scheff might be the best suited of the betting favourites but thought the price was too short.

I like Riviera, but have to say I don't particularly enjoy the CA swing

Yeah, Florida far superior course-wise.  Although I don't really mind these pro-am events for a couple of early season birdie-fests.
