Rory's final position in any tournament is dependent on a number of factors .

1.  he cant play in wind , and refuses to try to change that factor.

2.  he has displayed an increasing tendency to play relatively poorly if things don't go well for him at the start of a round

3.  his putting is flakey , particularly on shorter putts ( OK on longer/ lag putting )

4.  not sure that having your best mate on the bag is the best way to go ( even if Harry is a very good golfer himself) .

5.  excellent if course and conditions suit .

Still box office when he plays , but I have not backed him for a tournament for years .  Used to back and trade him , but not recently .  He will win his share of tournaments but generally he is poor value pre tournament , eg this years Open , particularly given his observed practice ( from reports , did not see him myself , but trusted mates put a line through him on basis of what they were seeing --as with Tiger , whom I did see , and I formed a similar opinion within 10 seconds of seeing him play in practice ) . You never see them in practice unless you are on course .
