Tough one this, kind of counter intuitive to back any big name the week after the main event and we have nothing prior to work off with as I can't ever remember an event like this immediately after a major, especially with a transatlantic flight. Maybe the missed cuts last week have an edge, so can see the attraction to Rory but will let him pass. The two I like are Thomas and Stenson, simple reasons is they've both had some frustrating times in the last 12 months but both are found some form and maybe a little more motivated to extract something positive from the season. As Henrik is the one at odds have opted for him, a tread lightly week indeed in my opinion.

Of course Rahmbo is top quality, but too short for me after 1 rd-  plenty of top players not too far behind
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 7:56 PM BST
Anyone out there? getting quite bunched
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 7:57 PM BST
Back to back bogeys for Rahmbo, just the 6 tied at the top now
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 8:06 PM BST
Fitzy to the front for now
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 8:26 PM BST
Useful start fro Rahm I assume?  Certainly condensing nicely.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 8:44 PM BST
Yeah going nicely - course playing hard but fair
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 9:12 PM BST
Wonder if Rory's freshness after the MC might start to tell, you often find guys coming off a busy week can start well but then fade as the tiredness kicks in, might be the case with someone like Rahmbo.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:17 PM BST
Yeah, that's very true. Rory 4 off the lead now
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 9:20 PM BST
Course really starting to bite them now, Bryson quickly in reverse.  If it stays firm and dry by the weekend we might have the major scoring we've waited all year for.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:23 PM BST
I hope it keeps firming - said it often enough but these guys need to be tested and not handed birdie chances every other hole
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:34 PM BST
Cantlay can't believe he's actually going to have to pitch out and not get the drop they automatically expect.
Report Super Hans July 26, 2019 9:34 PM BST
Winning score?
I'll go -8
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:43 PM BST
You only have to take your eye off the leaderboard for a sec and there are players reversing quicker than a French tank
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:43 PM BST
wow Cantlay - horror of a db
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 9:45 PM BST
-8 could be realistic.  Needs a serious test just to keep these boys in single digits but hot, dry conditions and water hazards can do it.
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 9:50 PM BST
Boys at PGA HQ seem to have taken their eyes off the leaderboard too.
Report Super Hans July 26, 2019 9:51 PM BST
Cantlay still -7 on PGA LB.
If onlySad
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 9:52 PM BST
yes, I'm expecting for an update on Bubba with a triple or something

Dunno what the stableford equivalent of 59 is but DJ Trahan is +13 through 6 in Reno.  Decent.
Report Super Hans July 26, 2019 10:00 PM BST
Rahm wet.
Had Rahm & Cantlay going into this round. Disaster.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 10:02 PM BST
and I had Bubba and JT - so not much shouting to be done for me either - though I'd swap our places right now! that's pretty impressive TB
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 10:03 PM BST
Knew I could stop players by mentioning but I seem to have stopped the entire event, Reno went into lightning delay moment I typed that.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 10:03 PM BST
Bubba had a 10fter to get them both back but just the birdie TB Laugh
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 10:06 PM BST
Morikawa still not met a course he doesn't like.  Not sure he'll be over Reno way this time next year though.
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 10:09 PM BST
fml JT canes it in to the flag. Yes, could be a very quick visit to some of these courses for Morikawa
Report Hank Hill July 26, 2019 10:32 PM BST
Brooks deciding that WGC has enough allure now it seems  - a certain Tiger thought they weren't to be sniffed at
Report Total Bosman July 26, 2019 10:38 PM BST
Funny isn't it, -5 and T7 looks pretty good at this stage but barely shorter than his starting price, if this was a major the market would be all over him.

This is getting fun - nice eagle from Rahmbo
Report Hank Hill July 27, 2019 7:42 PM BST
Looking like Bubba will tease me enough by just staying in the picture without actually challenging
Report Hank Hill July 27, 2019 8:23 PM BST
Might be an omen - bf page was acting up on me and it appeared the market was closed and had fitzy as winner...

Are you lot in the UK watching on Sky? In Oz the Sky equivalent (Foxtel) aren't showing WGCs anymore and have to watch on Golfpass, wondering if it's the same over there?
Report Hank Hill July 27, 2019 9:45 PM BST
Rory/Brooks would be great - Bubba/JT would be nicer financially!
Report Hank Hill July 27, 2019 9:45 PM BST

Shpuld be interesting to see rory and brooks go head to head. Impressive comeback by mcilroy as he was 3 over after 12 holes

Rory who struggles to close a door against 2 good closers in Koepka and Fitxpatrick.
Report MillionaireMaker July 28, 2019 3:50 PM BST
Yep that same Rory that has won more times than Koepka and Fitzpatrick combined.

And won twice already this season.

Yeah that bottle job guyCrazy

Matt Fitz being a better closer than Rory McIlroy is an ambitious position to try to defend.

We going to have someone come from a bit back for the win or some classic stuff from the front 2?

Gerry Lester on the move
Report Total Bosman July 28, 2019 7:02 PM BST
Too much quality and too many ups and downs possible here to make it a two horse race, but certainly interesting to see how the front two go.  I know he allegedly only cares about majors but you'd imagine a final round final group with Rory might get Brooks' juices flowing a bit.
Report Hank Hill July 28, 2019 7:02 PM BST

Report Total Bosman July 28, 2019 7:51 PM BST
Not really sure Facts, although I guess the only way to keep anyone watching the Seniors is to keep it on the main channel.  Another question would be why it wasn't better for the Senior Open to go a bit earlier and be done in time for the WGC leaders go out, this way they have viewers tuning out just as it's reaching the end.
Report Hank Hill July 28, 2019 7:54 PM BST
yeah get em out early - the oldies would have all been up at 5am anyway Grin

Did you see Merritt's card yday TB? shows what eagles can do in that format as he parred loads but comes away with 18 pts for the day. Personally I like that format and wouldn't mind seeing an additional tourny with it
Report Total Bosman July 28, 2019 8:38 PM BST
Yeah, it's strange to put a tournament with a different, interesting format up against a WGC and women's and senior majors when it could probably get a bit of interest on its own in the fall.  I didn't follow it yesterday but was pleased to wake up to it, Merritt's been a regular of mine the last few months and had a few quid running on him this week.  Taken a green though as anything can happen.
Report Hank Hill July 28, 2019 8:45 PM BST
n1 hope he wins for you then - only play so far for me has been a lay of Kaymer
Report Total Bosman July 28, 2019 8:50 PM BST
Fair play to Rory, for a guy who's sometimes brilliant and sometimes dreadful it's rare to see 9 holes of absolute mediocrity.

Report Hank Hill July 28, 2019 9:34 PM BST
