i played golf over here a few times with a californian bloke who was a regular at pebble beach, and long before i saw much us tour golf on tv i had fallen in love with pebble beach.
he was a gas man, and was brought over by government to help with conversion of uk to north sea gas. he met a local lass and stayed. |
By:
It must have been a tough decision for him...! Girlfriends come and go...but Pebble Beach is for life...
|
By:
Fair to say Rahm is friendless in the market, can he get to 50 before the off.
|
By:
Sundogmonkey, who sometimes posts on here, is at Pebble this week. I have seen a few of the pictures he has posted and I am as jealous as any man could be.
|
By:
Rahm only three shots off Tiger at Augusta and finished on same score as Cantlay...obviously Cantlay has won since but more than double his price. I don't fancy Rahm myself this week but didn't think I would see anything like 50.
|
By:
ive got sundog on twitter too
he had a pic of tiger on yesterday, wish i was there. i think the gas man was very happy in north east england, he made me a welsh dresser that i still have, his mrs played golf too. |
By:
rahm has a reputation for being a bit hot headed, and thats going to be tested this week
in all golfers with some of the rough just off the green! |
By:
It sounds like he had it made (life, not the welsh dresser). I'm please for the gas man....and i'm pleased for Sundog. It is great for the game having Tiger back in the mix, I literally can't wait for the majors to come round.
|
By:
yeah sundog seems to be a good guy,
not long to wait for us open, i was expecting to be watching the cricket before it started just about stopped raining for now here in durham |
By:
He does seem to be a good guy, I agree. I think this is his second trip this year to somewhere I have thought "i'd love to do that myself one day".
Good luck to all today....let's hope we get a cracker. |

I think they fell out about Adam's anchoring so Steve sacked him there and then.
|
By:
Despite the strength of the favourites hoping Pebble brings a few more into it than usual so slightly upped my outsider stakes this week. In order of jackpot: KH, Chez, EVR, Ancer.
|
By:
Hope you're right TB. Gone all big prices. Experienced & accurate is the theme -
Stenson @ 100 Kisner @ 220 Horschel @ 267 Harding @ 583 Gl all, |
By:
Well Rahm got to 50 ,not sure which of his arms is broke.
|
By:
Not too surprised with the drift.
Would have taken Web & Kooch before him but missed the 60's ![]() |
By:
Hard to tell if the play by play text is right as nothing is showing on the graphic but it's got Ortiz advancing it all of 10 yards on his second shot, presumably from the rough.
|
By:
Nice start from my team.
|
By:
not many early birdies...
|
By:
Brooks Koepka ......... 11.50
Xander Schauffele ... 30.00 Si Woo Kim ............ 210.44 Thomas Pieters .... 458.13 Pieters is in horrible form but has gone well in Majors, 4th in the 2017 Masters, 6th in the 2018 USPGA. In the back of my mind I knew he played his first golf at a very short course. That is Witbos, Belgium, 5,067 metres, with ix par 3s, the longest 161 metres. With length not an issue at Pebble Beach I hope Pieters has an eye for short iron shots to small greens. |
By:
*six par 3s
|
By:
Judging by the way Dufner is hacking it up the first you really don't want any part of the rough. This could be brutal.
|
By:
Has Piercy declared on -1?
|
By:
Time to bail out on Rahm boys
![]() ![]() |
By:
2 shot swing with wee Rory...And others.
|
By:
Piercy on fire

50,48,46,44,42 Rahm layers a tad worried after one and a bit holes. Has all the tools for round here the big fella.
Lol. |
By:
So many over par. Feels like a while since we had a proper US Open, last year almost but they turned the course scoring friendly on the Sunday. Could be an even par winner this week which would be nice.
|
By:
Carnage on front side to which I didnt really expect...
As easy as conditions can be at this stage and struggles have really begun. |
By:
Outrageous start for Piercy.
|
By:
With hindsight, Rahm was quite a big price, eh?
|
By:
-5 after 6
its like one of those old style scoreboard plots ! |
By:
Rough is brutal yes but what is with the greens? Was there much rain in the lead in or are have they been over watered?
|
By:
there were pictures of them being watered by hose this morning
|
By:
Cheers Donny. Hopefully someone takes the hoses down to Spyglass and leaves them there for the weekend.
|
By:
Shocker from Dj
|
By:
Great save.
|
By:
Piercy paid the penalty for missing the fairway on 8.
