couple of things I noticed from Tiger today. one thing is that he was deliberately geeing himself up, getting a bit angry at himself, probably because he realized the danger of him losing concentration.

I do think going forward he has a chance to break nicklaus record, but think he needs to break it in the next three. once you get past 45 it becomes much tougher to win majors. he should have every chance of doing so if he stays injury free.

Also wonder if some of these players look at themselves and think, well I had a chance to make hay in the years when Tiger was absent and I didn't do so. for me the players who are stuck on one major are the worse ones to back for the majors, the likes of rose/scott/oost normally always start quite short for the big ones, but they deliver very rarely considering how often they are up there. DJ has one major and must look at Tiger with his fifteen and think, am I doing it right?

Loved Butch's comment " Jordan and all the yong guns wished they had played Tiger at his best ,well they might get what they wished for ".
Obviously will never get to those levels again but the win yesterday might show the youngsters that perhaps they are in the right era.

don't think its a start of tiger winning multiple events, lots of luck and the likes of dusty never showed for 3 and a half days only turned up at the 15th on the sunday and got beat by one, soft conditions let tiger get away with at least a dozen poor drives swings over the 4 days, same for everyone though

Not sure Molinari choked as some think. He certainly didn't choke in the Open, Ryder Cup or Players when he had plenty of opportunity.

Anyone can be done by the wind on the 12th and his approach to the 15th clipped a branch he didn't think was in his way. Most golfers know these things can happen.

Maybe Woods used his Masters knowledge better he certainly played to the safe side on 12
Report kincsem April 15, 2019 11:30 AM BST
Woods had a par 3 at the 12th.

Koepka double bogey 5 at 12th, and parred the last three holes, finished 1 behind.
Molinari double bogey 5 at 12th, double bogey 7 at 15th, finished 2 behind.
Finau double bogey 5 at 12th, finished 2 behind.
Cantlay bogied 16th and 17th, finished 3 behind.
Dustin Johnson missed a 17 foot putt on 18th to tie.
Schauffle parred each of the last four holes to finish 1 behind.

It panned out for Tiger Woods like picking the correct numbers in the Euromillion draw.

Ive heard to it so often over the years - that Tiger didn't face the depth of talent there is out there back in the early 200os and how he wouldn't have won as many majors if he had faced today's depth of talent.

Don't believe the hype this current crop aren't anywhere near as special as they are touted to be. Vijay, Duval, Ernie, Phil were all as good if not better than the current crop they were denied the opportunity to have careers that would have put them right at the top of the games standing had they not been in the woods era.

Yesterday was all so familiar from the moment Tiger hit that great recovery shot on 11 it was vintage Tiger. Not until 18 where he could afford a mistake did he make one, the key shots were all perfectly executed. The main challengers Molinari, Finau, Brooks did what the challengers of yesteryear did - under pressure they made mistakes and fell away the only difference was yesterday Tiger came from behind something he hadn't done before in any of his majors.
Report kincsem April 15, 2019 11:40 AM BST
No idea.
It crossed my mind that it is a longer shot to the right pin position and in the heat of battle many of the players under clubbed.
On previous days the air might have been warmer, in the 4th round damper/denser with the ball flying a little slower.
And it looked like a few of the shots ballooned up into the air, probably there was a breeze against that they did not feel.
Report sewter lives again April 15, 2019 11:40 AM BST

Report sewter lives again April 15, 2019 11:42 AM BST
that's what Poulter said kincsem but if you go for that flag and get it wrong or the breeze picks up then you are in the water not so if you aim where Tiger did
Report kincsem April 15, 2019 11:47 AM BST
Koepka and Schauffle are the two I take out of the tournament.
Koepka blundered twice, on the 2nd hole in the 3rd (?) round, and on the 12th in the final round.
Schauffle looks like he couldn't hit the ball 150 yards but his stats on the par 4 and par 5 holes are excellent.

I am surprised so many players found the water on 12.
They have scoreboards, and can see players playing the 12th (and going in the water) before they get there.

I made money as I backed Cantlay at 15 prices from 110 to 1000, laying at 90, 30, 26, 8. (see other threads before first ball hit for bets).
Report kincsem April 15, 2019 11:51 AM BST

my theory with the majors is that it's very unclear now who is going to win them, because there are so many good players now. everyone is about the same level.

look at the young guys who haven't won a major- just the americans alone is a formidable bunch. xander/Bryson/finau/cantlay etc and that's not even mentioning even younger guys like Cameron champ. all those guys are hungry to win a major. I'd far rather back them at similar prices to the brigade who seem stuck on one major eternally- rose, oost, scott spring to mind.

It is impossible to say if a generation of players are better or worse that other generations.
What might happen again is a player like Speith appears and dominates for a couple of years.

Using the random name generation website is one of these our next golf superstar?
Dion Rowley, Gia Robins, Tyler Driscoll, Jardel Davenport, Kwame Eaton, Tyrique Goodman, Eathan Firth, Jaydon Merritt, Menachem Corbett, Tyriq Snow

We don't know who will win majors in the future.
