Mickelson loves Pebble, and I think he has a great chance to complete his full house of Majors, when the U.S. Open returns here in June.
Scotty and Big Dusty also onside! |

All 3 courses are used over the first 3 days; T60 pro's + ties + 60 amateurs play Pebble Sunday so mdf applies to restrict field size. HTH

SAME EVERY YEAR... (yawn)
DON'T EXPECT TO SEE ALOT OF GOLF THIS WEEK - it's a fun ProAm event after all..... with RICH CELEBS and BIG business egos. lewisham ranger • February 9, 2017 7:43 PM GMT is this coverage a joke? 45 mins in and haven't seen a single live shot of johnson, spieth, day etc all we are seeing instead is boring interviews with lumbering ceos no wonder golf is struggling to bring new people into the game if this is meant to be the norm Total Bosman • February 9, 2017 8:04 PM GMT Get used to it, worst coverage of the year if you want to watch actual golf. crystalhunt • February 9, 2017 8:11 PM GMT If Bill Murray turns up I'm off. therhino • February 9, 2017 8:16 PM GMT Don't ever remember all the day 1 leaders coming from Spyglass. Could be a serious piece of luck for those playing there today if the weather settles down tomorrow and Saturday. Total Bosman • February 9, 2017 8:19 PM GMT Luck of the draw looks with the guys on Spyglass, Monterey should be easiest but they seem to be getting blown away. Can't Catch Me • February 10, 2017 8:39 PM GMT Coverage worse than ever. Spieth two clear and only seen one shot that was ten mins old Jack_Kray • February 11, 2017 7:21 PM GMT Was hoping for decent coverage of the pros on the host course today. Hope it's not blanket coverage of that unfunny cnt Bill Murray in his dungarees and silly hat. crystalhunt • February 11, 2017 8:17 PM GMT I'm with you Jack - awful man. He's a national treasure though in the states, amazingly. Total Bosman • February 12, 2017 10:05 PM GMT Nothing more boring than watching a guy doing just enough. padlock • February 12, 2017 10:37 PM GMT Esp 6 hour of it CM iyc |

It's not the greatest sporting spectacle on the planet, I'll give you that. But because of the US Open at Pebble, it is of interest.
Dustin Johnson 8.66 £14.00 £107.20 Adam Scott 30.88 £14.00 £418.36 Phil Mickelson 32.00 £10.00 £310.00 Chez Reavie 45.83 £6.00 £269.00 £44.00 |

A BAD WEATHER FORECAST has a lot of oK golfers withdrawing...Kokrak, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Na, Kirk... + Singh, Streb, Schwartzel, Hoffmann, Haas & Carlos Ortiz to mention a few.
Note as Pebble is set to host this year's US Open, we won't expect that to influence the scoring this week - during the 2010 edition, Pebble played to an average of 71.56 during the Pro-Am but 74.983 once the USGA got hold of the course setup and pin placements (GMac won his only Major, same as DJ in 2016). With 156 amateurs playing the 3 courses, they give them easier pins to deal with compared to most events, and little penalty for finding the rough, to avoid the six-n-half hour rounds. And yes, the pace of play is like the poa annua greens this week - SLOW. Birdie machines to watch - most birdies-or-better gained since January - Talor Gooch (but left us down last week), Adam Hadwin, Brandon Harkins & Andrew Putnam. |
By:
not a fan of multi course events but for some reason i tend to do quite well on them, seems to be so many that can have a solid casemade for them this week, i am passing on DJ even though he obviously has a good chance, his price just seems a bit low. so a few more selections than the one or two i normally make but i couldnt cut the list down any further then 5 players, they are
Spieth- 2 points eachway Kuchar- 1 point eachway Snedeker- 1 point eahway Mickleson- 1 point eachway Day- 2 points win only |
By:
Gotta remember to check the weather here when looking for your long shots - looks like Friday is the day to be at Spyglass if this is accurate: https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/pebble_beach_lone_cypress
Most of the big guns are there Friday - DJ, Day, Spieth, Cantlay, Phil, Ponce, Reed and Kuch. |
By:
Interesting Rhino,3,4 of them were on my radar.
Just the coverage from memory stopping me having a real involvement. Remarkably slow and boring first few days. |
By:
for sure therhino, the weather was certainly in my thinking
|
By:
Yes, at first glance most of the big names look to have the better draw. Isn't that remarkable luck for the organisers.
|
By:
that a cynical view TB im sure it was indeed just luck of the draw! :)
|
By:
beautiful venue. worth watching for the views alone.
|
By:
Be seeing more views than shots, can assure you of that, more interviews, asskissing and various other nonsense too.
Until back 9 Sunday. |
By:
3 against the field
Sneds, Finau and Scott gl if you're playing |
By:
Cantlay WD

Maybe back CANTLAY next week at The Genesis Open (4th last year at Riviera). Colt Knost also takes a pass this week. Billy Hurley III is in the field.
48yo 'Captain' Furyk makes his first start this year (playing with amateur Tony Romo) - his 21st appearance at this event with 5 T10s but just one T25 in his last eight visits. |
By:
Wonder what the odds are of Romo beating Furyk in stroke play.
|
By:
Can't look past those starting at the shore course. Light winds Thursday, protected by trees on Friday and very light winds at Pebble on Saturday which is when you want to be there. Have therefore come up with a couple of radically wild selections - DJ and Day. Hopefully it is that simple.
|
By:
if Romo's golf skills are as good as his commentary skills he is in for a good tournament
imo he is the best ex-player sports commentator |
By:
I concur. He is amazing in the booth.

President Donald Trump has played this event seven times between 1993 and 2006 but never made the cut. In 1993, Trump made a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Spyglass Hill with a 5-iron. Afterwards, he was quoted as saying “I just hope I don’t have to buy drinks for 25,000 people.” |

i cant seem to shake the feeling that this is the week Spieth puts it all together, the last few times i have had this feeling were Webb Simpson last year and Kuchar a few weeks ago. As they say Class is permanent and it is only a matter of time till the putts start dropping again and he comes good.
|
By:
My big price darts this week are Els, Gay and Every. Should've probably mentioned that before Every was -4 thru 4.
|
By:
My bets are DJ n Day n Kuch. This is going too well early.Something must go wrong.
Pitch n putt. So in similar boat TB. I merely intimated. Yet lots struggling badly. If don't name all bets on here now you get slaughtered? Not like before, trading to be done, not just picking winners is it? |
By:
yes good idea to go top-heavy. feels like this is a good period for the favourites, fowler and dj winning last week, rose and dechambeau the week before that. respect DJ but have a very strong feeling for Day this week, couldn't back them both really just can't bring myself to back two golfers in single figures.
think Spieth will try and peak for the masters. at the moment he's one step forward two steps backward. |
By:
They weren't single figures LR....
Got in there anyway TB.Now 5 thru 5 |
By:
I post very few of my bets but if I ever do land the jackpot on an outsider I don't want to be accused of aftertiming.
Few good scores coming from Spyglass today, and those boys have Pebble in the bad stuff tomorrow, going to be a struggle to win from that wave. |
