http://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/jordan-spieth-drinks-claret-jug-flight-open Don't think Jordan Spieth never forgot that plane ride home with, but yet without, the Claret Jug !!! Did Zach wait back to congratulate SPIETH this year ??? |

"The Leading Amateur and winner of the Silver Medal is ALFIE PLANT....Runner-up and winner of the Silver Salver is Matt Kuchar". "Ladies and Gentleman, with a score of 268 and the winner of the Gold Medal, and the Champion Golfer of the Year is.....JORDAN SPIETH" |

I don't give many chances for forumites to wind me, but I was on Kuchar @ 79/1 (80 on here). A friend booked me a birthday surprise, which turned out to be a 3 hour Andre Rieu film. Battery on mobile was almost flat, 4%. Checked Kucjar's price at ten past four, laid a bit more at 5.1. Someone has just told me that Speith was about 40/1 on the 13th. I'm already suicidal due to problems with DVLA losing my licence, and being unable to drive. 10/1 I could about take, any bigger it's very large brandy time.

I'll just ad that I did back Alfie Plant at 9/2 and 5/1, with WH, 365 and PP. So it wasn't all bad.

Don't think Speith went bigger than about 7/1 or something like that
|

Oh how i wish young Spiffy had gone to 40s on that 13th hole..My word...

AND SO IT BEGINS ALL OVER AGAIN.....the road to The 147th Open at Carnoustie ! even if some people (incl saxon farm) 'detest these worldwide qualifying spots'.
...the first of 15 events in ten countries that will make up The OPEN Qualifying Series for 2018. I'm expecting another AUSSIE TRIO to qualify for The OPEN at The Emirates Australian Open this Sunday. But perhaps Jonas Blixt 28/1 might make the frame ? ![]() |

The KOLON Korea Open, which is organised by the Korea Golf Association, will be part of the Series for the first time in June next year and two places will be available in golf’s most international major championship to the leading non-exempt players.
Three places in The Open will be on offer at the Joburg Open next month, which will be played at Randpark in Johannesburg for the first time, while four places at Carnoustie will be available at both the SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club in January and the Gateway to The Open Mizuno Open at The Royal Golf Club in Japan in May. On the European Tour, three places each at the HNA Open de France, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open presented by the Rory Foundation and the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open will be on offer. On the PGA TOUR, The National and the Greenbrier Classic will each have four places available, with the final place at Carnoustie to be secured at the John Deere Classic on the eve of The 147th Open. |

Early weather forecast says very little wind all 4 days

By:
our weather forecadts are all up for grabs rhino, weve had high pressure over uk for 6 weeks
or so and next week its looking like its going...maybe nothing drastic forecast at the moment, 10-12 mph winds and a few showers but that could change... |
By:
If Gullane is this tough with a bit of wind after the dry summer Carnoustie will be fun if it blows.
|
By:
I predict Carnoustie will end up a putting contest. No particular advantage to ball strikers or shot makers. A pity really but there is nothing the R&A can do.
|
By:
Oh and if nothing changes there will be several putting for a 2 on the 410 yard 7th hole.
|
By:
hate to break the news Saxon farm
golf is 50% putting |

Fake news. |
By:
if it's going to be a putting contest why not back spieth
who in my opinion when he's on, is the best putter i've ever seen, and is the defending champion ok his putting this year has been absolutely horrible, but if he does wake up with the putter, then i feel he'll be bang there- his ball striking has been as good as anyone if you know this info, why not use it? rather than complaining about it? |
By:
I’m not complaining at all. My prediction is based two fold.
a) TV reports today. b) Watching Euro Pro event a few weeks ago from Royal Montrose a few miles up the coast which resembled The Kalahari Desert. I wish you luck regarding Spieth, personally I don’t fancy him. Too much of a leap of faith for his putting to return for me. Although it’s several years since I last played there, I remember the greens being pretty flat on the whole & they will never get super quick in case the wind gets too strong. |
By:
what was reported saxon? I feel pretty strongly about the fave but need the wind to be a factor.
|
By:
Rob Lee said on Sky that he had heard from pro’s at Carnoustie that it was playing faster than Gullane.
|
By:
Cheers. When was the last time the UK had a heat wave and the courses were this baked? 2006? Wondering if anyone will use Tiger at Hoylake as a blueprint.
|
By:
I imagine that the Hoylake 2006 comparison may prove accurate. Good luck!

@BrandtSnedeker
· Just hit one 427 on 18 @TheOpen .. Guys would be hitting it in the burn in front of green 450+.. Carnoustie is baked out but greens are pure.. Never seen an Open this firm.. Will be an awesome week if it stays like this |
