This week I took delivery of a set of Titleist 716 AP1 irons and bag for last year's efforts. They look and feel fantastic, although I haven't actually tried hitting balls with them (that's usually when things go wrong for me)!

Flirted with the leaderboard on occasions but managed to miss entering when on holiday for last 2 years..doh

Trying to pick my team for Open de Espana, but I'm getting "parsererror"

Just tried it again a bit earlier, and there was no more parse error. So I picked my team and captain/vc.

Then it took me to a page where I need to watch a video to unlock the "Cut Replacement" feature.

Video keeps buffering, and eventually it aborts. On my 7th attempt now. This is taking ages just to pick my fantasy team. Jordan Spieth could have played Amen Corner and painted my spare room already!

Finally it worked!

With the Cut Replacement, you just get a random player if one of yours misses the cut (but not the Captain or VC). Seems a bit silly really. So I had to watch a video of players talking about super heroes!

Cut Replacement immediately into action and likely to be very busy this weekend

Yes, but it won't replace Sergio if he's your captain or VC. Only the other 4 can be replaced.

imo this competition will be won and lost on your captain/vice captain's performances in the forthcoming Majors the weekly comps till then are just tinkering around

Last year I didn't do particularly well in the majors, but fortunately none of them were won by European Tour players. Same with 3 of the 4 WGC's, and I had Lowry in the other one. This year, Willett has already slipped through the net!

I'm sticking with my gameplan. For me, Willett was not a percentage play. He wasn't among the 6 shortest odds in my book, or in the market. Some might argue otherwise, but he certainly had no business being Captain or VC.

I'm continuing with my strategy of playing the percentages for now. But later in the year, if I'm still chasing, I will gamble on a few in the bigger tournaments.

cant see the positions for the other teams wrt global ranking Scarlet, all i can say is im 1297th & the leaders are about double my score currently.

Yes you have to play the video at least. You don't actually have to watch it though

dropped to 724 thanks to a very average week but the prize money is low so not many big overall changes to the leaderboard

Irish Open and BMW PGA in following 2 weeks will be a different ball game

There are lots of games on that site. The free ones have £100 prize. And 100 entries so far for the weekly game. There are also some games with entry fee and up to £3000 prize guaranteed. Looks like a bit of a gambling site really, doesn't it? Bit surprised European Tour are getting together with them.

scarlet, I've entered it now. Only doing the weekly comps, not the daily ones. I've got my team in the 3k comp, 1k comp, and some others!

Scoring could be made more simple, and the site is not at all user-friendly. But it's an interesting concept.

Im in the 1k comp for now see how it goes.

Just had a look at scores in 1k comp quite interesting with real time scoring updates and ticker for all players scores

Yeah, great start for my team. Currently leading as well in the daily 1k with the same 7 picks. Just waiting on a few players still out there.

I won the R1 daily 1k comp, but it took them an awful long time to settle. Still in the lead of the weekly 1k, but I guess I can do no better than tie, because there is another with the exact same team as me: McIlroy, Lowry, Willett, Hatton, Dredge, Bland, and Rock. What's the chance of that happening?! Rock currently +4, so looks like I might be a man down for the weekend.

Yep, I had Rory as captain, and Rose as VC. Both missed cut, but I had Garcia and Grace so it wasn't too much of a disaster.

Well yeah, Rory captain is the percentage play, but have to consider going a bit contrary to make up the ground. I like Stenson this week at the odds. Might make him my captain.

scarlet I was 174th for the week.

Can't really see any value in taking risks this week. Especially not now that I'm up to 165th. I think it's fair to say that Stenson has blown his cover after that performance at The Open! So it's McIlroy captain, Stenson VC + 4 solid ones for me.

I'm hoping the Olympics will be included with some decent points up for grabs. If so, that might present an opportunity to take a few risks. If not, it might have to be a kitchen sink job in the Final Series!
