Ouch! Terrible week for me Didn't have Oosthuizen, Schwartzel or Grace in my team. Was top of the overall standings after the WGC Match Play, but my lead only lasted a week. Still, was 8th place overall going into last week. Now down to 94th! Hope I can bounce back. It's game on in the betfair league now!

Done okay since my US Open meltdown, picked Wiesberger as star player in France, so now back up to 23rd overall. But it's not been enough to shake off Desert Stormers, who is now 54th overall and climbing. Big week this, no obvious favourite amongst the Euro Tour players, and I've gone for a bit of a curveball myself with Shane Lowry as my double points pick. Think he's a great bet this week!

Well my Shane Lowry gamble didn't exactly come off in the The Open. But it certainly came off this week! Was 48th overall going into the Bridgestone, and now I'm in the overall lead again!

Last time I got into the lead was after the Match Play, so the WGC's have been kind to me this year. Hopefully I can stay there for more than one week this time. But with big points again this week, anything could happen!

Had a few quid on him myself too. I back all of my golf comp picks, along with quite a few other players. Had a good run with the betting lately, without making any inroads in the comps, but this week was one to remember!

2nd place for the week in the fantasy is excellent, I've not had a top 10 all season myself. Even top 1000 is a good week. Last year I got 2nd in the Malaysian Open, and it gets you into the sweeps in the last event, along with about 400 other teams. It's a bit of a longshot but I wouldn't bet against scarlet!

Yes it's crunch time now in the Fantasy R2D! 1.3 million points to the winner in each of the last 4 tournaments, so anything could happen, even the Betfair league is still up for grabs. In the overall, I'm 7th place just over 200k off the lead.

I've gone with McIlroy as my star pick this week in Turkey. Don't think it's worth the risk in picking one of the others,  but I would if I was a bit further back. Having a peek at some of the teams above me, the 5th place team Cunny Funt currently has Lowry down as star player. That's bold.

Talking of other teams, there's also a Lee Clayton in 22nd place overall. No relation as far as I know. Last year I finished 17th overall, and he was 8th. So although I've come all this way, I could still end up not even being top Clayton for the second year in a row!

So, this is serious! The rest of my line up: Lowry, Schwartzel, Wiesberger, Willett, and Wood - I expect most of the top teams to pick those. But I've also gone with Fleetwood, Dubuisson, Uihlein, and Donaldson. So those are the ones I really need to perform. I've left out Fitzpatrick, Sullivan, Poulter, Pieters.

I have this one down as a long hitters track, based on the last two years, so that's a bit of my thinking (and Pieters price too short for me). On here I've backed Fleetwood, Dubuisson and Uihlein win and top 5 and picked them in the golf comp too.

Btw who are Moe Norman Fan Club and Desert Stormers on here? Good luck to you both, let's hope someone can bring it home for the Betfair forum!

So many non Euro Tour guys this week among the favourites, which is surely to my advantage, although it could do a lot of damage if one slips through the net. Obviously I'm going with McIlroy as my sweeper skipper. Stenson, Oosthuizen, Garcia, and Lowry complete a five man defence, with Grace and Reed in midfield. In attack I'm going with Schwartzel, Aphibarnrat and Lahiri.

The Fantasy Five to Watch on the European Tour website has come up with Kaymer, Poulter, Wood and An. And I've picked none of those!

You won't be getting any advice from this also ran, but I agree with your analysis.Maybe I should bet on the fantasy five to help you out as winners have been scarce all year.Has your prowess been reflected in your golf punting and what is your highest weekly finish?

Wasn't sure myself, but I looked it up, and 69th in Open de France was my best finish, when I had Wiesberger as star pick. 185th in the WGC Bridgestone Inv is the only other week I've been in the top 200. Both of those were great weeks for me in the betting as well. As was last week with Dubuisson. I've had a good run all round since beginning of July. It can't possibly last!

Cheers scarlet. Still leading by over 200k. Wasn't a great week as I didn't have Willett, but it worked out okay with Knox and Kisner scooping up the big points. Won't have the same sort of protection this week or next. Chinese winner would be a nice bonus, but unlikely. No Rory this week, so there's a decision to be made there, I guess between Rose and Stenson. Plenty of head scratching to be done over the next 48 hours!

But golf is a gentleman's game and I'm gonna play it with a straight bat.

So here's my team. Rose is my star pick - he is rightly the favourite. Then, in order of preference, it's Stenson, Grace, Oosthuizen, Garcia, Lowry, Reed, Willett, Dubuisson, and Wiesberger.

That means I'm leaving out Fitzpatrick, Kaymer, Uihlein, Grillo, Donaldson, Poulter, An and Aphibarnrat. Could be curtains if any of those wins!

GL El B! There's maybe the likes of Garcia, Dubuisson id have left out & gambled on a coupls those outsiders but...... thats why im like position 5000+ overall :)

Yeah the top teams will probably pick similar. Last week, I counted, and the top 30 teams picked just 19 different players between them. Prize for top 5 is a set of custom made clubs and bag, so it's no surprise that the ones at the top don't want to risk too much. But any further back and it's probably worth taking a few risks.

Last year, I was around 12th overall coming into the penultimate event, which was Turkey. Koepka wasn't in many teams, in fact I don't think anyone above me picked him at all, and I was considering making him my star pick. In the end, I went for the safer option of Garcia as star pick, whereas several others chose the other joint favourite Stenson. Koepka won, Stenson 3rd, Garcia nowhere! I climbed to only 8th place. Then down to 17th after the final in Dubai (McIlroy my star, Stenson the winner), but that's another story. But I told myself, if it happens again this year, take the risk.

But now I'm leading, so no need to risk. I just need to play the percentages (and like I said, with a straight bat, I won't try to block the chasing teams).

Yes I agree donny, it would be better if picks were only displayed after the deadline. As the leader, I don't mind if others see my picks and try to have a few against me. But if I'm not leading after this week, then I have to make sure whoever is leading doesn't block me. Next week is Dubai, so I'll have to be up at 3 or 4am next Thursday if that happens!

Actually, this issue made me think of some of the limitations of our Golf Comp. Blocking possible there too. I know Max used to allow picks by PM, but that would give me an advantage as I am playing the comp myself. So I was thinking for the Final Series 2016, which will have 12 qualifiers, we could make it x10 points (instead of x2), and one pick each with first choice to the overall leader, second choice to second placed competitor etc (competitors could post a list of players in preferential order and they would get the highest preference not already picked by a higher placed competitor).

As for the fantasy R2D. Solid start for me today. 2nd place team has Fitzpatrick instead of Dubuisson, and 3rd place team has Fitzpatrick instead of Oosthuizen, otherwise they are the same as me. All top 12 teams picked Rose as star. I've checked the top 30 teams, and a total of 20 different players between them. Highest team to pick An is in 20th place, 1.5 million behind. And Casey is not eligible. Fisher could mess things up for me, highest with him is 6th place, 900k behind, but 22nd team has him as star pick - 1.5 million behind but 2.6 million for a star pick winner! None of the top 30 have Bjerregaard at all.

Don't want Jaidee either as the 6th placed team has him as well. I've studied the other teams carefully (with spreadsheet!), and that team is definitely the most adventurous one in the top 10, with Fisher, Grillo, Jaidee, and Kaymer. Might yet pay off.

Bjerregaard would be okay for me. Only team in the top 70 with him is in 38th position, 1.8 million down. And this one is by far the most adventurous team I've seen, with An, Aphibarnrat, Bjerregaard, Donaldson, Dubuisson, Fisher, Grillo, Levy, and Uihlein. Rose as star pick is the only boring bit. Would move up to around 6th as things stand.

Garcia would be the best result for me, as I've backed him as well. Could be a real chokefest this weekend. I'll probably stay in bed on Sunday morning to avoid the anguish!

But I've now added the top 100 teams into my spreadsheed, and even if they finish in their current positions, by my reckoning, I would still be leading by around 50k. And there would be some big movers from lower down the table into the top 10, including my nemesis, the other Clayton!

But obviously there's still 18 holes to go. A lot can and will happen. And I plan to stay in bed while it does!

From a betting perspective, I've had an absolutely shocking fortnight in Shanghai. But in terms of the Fantasy R2D, Knox and Broberg is a result for me. Still waiting for the official scores, but none of the top 100 teams had Broberg, so I expect the top 4 will remain unchanged, and I should still be leading by over 200k.

Just one more week to go! The studying starts now.

The star pick will be crucial this week. McIlroy, Stenson or Rose? Whichever one I pick, there will probably be someone not too far behind with the other two.

I would pick Sergio as star player to see if anybody follows suit (I assume he is a non runner)
The crucial thing for you is you will need to pick the winner to have a chance to survive at the top

scarlet I doubt my rivals are that daft! The "Team Changes" panel highlights which players are in the field. (Garcia is a definite NR, so at least I don't have to pick him!)

In any case, there's no reason for them to follow me. It's the opposite, they need to pick different to me if they want to overtake. Still, I might do a bit of chopping and changing to throw them off the scent!

scarlet, I'm not one of those 420 rivals, because I never got in the top 10 of the weekly standings. I guess you need to take a bit of a gamble in that one with the star pick to give yourself the best chance. Haven't decided my team yet, let alone star pick, it's a tough choice. Moe Norman Fan Club here. I was 15th a couple of weeks ago, dropped to 30th now. I would love to get up to 10th and win a driver plus a fitting. Not likely, but you never know.

Initially I bluffed with Stenson as star player hehe, and a couple of others in the top 5 did have Stenson as star too. Then I switched to McIlroy, and now they've followed me, which is bizarre.

Not totally sure about my last pick, Wiesberger. Normally I would go with Schwartzel actually, but nobody else has him, so it would be a complete waste. Byeong-hun An or Grillo would be the other options for that final pick.

That's my 10 definite now. It'll have to be Wiesberger. It was him as star pick in France, along with Lowry at Firestone and Dubuisson in Turkey that got me to this position, so I'm putting my trust in them one more time.

Absolutely donny, top 6 all with McIlroy star, bonus for me! If they went with Stenson or Rose, they would have at least 3 times more chance to win, although more risk of falling out of the top 5, and missing out on the set of clubs.

Not a great start. Team in third place, almost 400k behind, but has Poulter and Fitzpatrick instead of my Lowry and Oosthuizen. On the plus side, McIlroy going well, and Stenson star pickers look out of it already. Still early days though.

Bit better today. Although as things stand, I would be 4th.

The team in 13th position (1.1 million down) has Sullivan, and the team in 40th (1.7 million down) has him as star and so is the virtual leader at the moment (I've looked at only the top 60 teams). Those two need a Sullivan win to overtake me, unlikely that anything less will do.

The team in 4th place (580k down) has Grillo in place of Lowry, otherwise identical to my team. Needs Grillo in a 2-way tie for 2nd or better to overtake me.

On the plus side, McIlroy still going reasonably well along with a few others, and I seem to have the better of the 2nd and 3rd placed teams for now.

Fenway - As things stand, Moe Norman Fan Club would be 29th (out of the top 60 teams). With Rose as star pick, things could still work out for you.

Thanks for that information El Bandido. I am not monitoring it nearly as much as you are. I am a fan of Andy Sullivan as a couple of lads I know in Notts used to play against him in county golf, and say he is a top bloke. Shame I didn't have faith in him!!!

Lots can change in the next couple of days, especially with Rory in contention. Still pulling for you.

After 47 events and 54 holes in Dubai, it's still wide open!

As it stands, I would finish 2nd, and the team in 40th place with Sullivan as star would win by 150k. When you're 1.7 million behind with 1 to go, you have to take a risk, and what a pick that could turn out to be!

Now, I could still win even if Sullivan wins, but I've got a better chance if McIlroy wins. Either way, Fitzpatrick is the main danger to me at the moment, I don't want him moving any higher up the leaderboard. So many permutations in fact, that my spreadsheet has crashed! But basically I'm looking for a solid Sunday performance Wiesberger in particular, and also from Willett and Dubuisson.

Fenway, I'm sure you don't need me or my spreadsheet to tell you after that 78 from Rose. Better luck next year!

Wow it's official! (spreadsheet wasn't quite right, but I've won so who cares)

What an amazing finish to the 2015 Fantasy Race to Dubai! I needed McIlroy to win and what drama at the 17th when he went in the water, but then holed a 20 footer for bogey! I could barely watch, but I'm delighted to be the winner. Congratulations to all the other prize winners, it was an incredibly close race.

I first took the lead in May after the WGC Match Play, but it only lasted a week. I dropped back to 90th or so after the US Open. Bernd Wiesberger as star pick for the Open de France, and then Shane Lowry in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational got me back into the lead. Somehow I always felt it was going to be my year after that. Still, I was only 8th coming into the Final Series. Victor Dubuisson in the Turkish Airlines Open got me back into the lead once more, and somehow I just held on.

I'm expecting to become a dad in 2016. My wife and I are expecting a baby girl in April. Maybe she brought me luck already! Hopefully she arrives safe and well, and on time, so that I can make it to Wentworth.

Big thanks to furrelli for starting this thread, and thanks to everyone for all the support - scarlet, BIG CAT, donny, sewter. And of course Fenway, great effort but unlucky in the end. Hope you have another shot at it next year. I look forward to doing battle with you all again in the 2016 Fantasy Race to Dubai.

Maybe you need to check the subscriptions in your My European Tour profile, and also your email to make sure it's not sending to your junk folder. The reminders are useful during the season, because forgetting to change your team even once would be very costly. Fortunately I remembered every time, although I could hardly forget about it towards the end!
