Well, I'm not sure if Max was aware of the Wednesday start for the match play and that there's also Hong Kong this week. Seems like half of us missed the deadline :( Will make picks for Hong Kong here just in case

Hi Max. Just logged on for the first time today and really shocked/disappointed to discover that this week's European tour event is the Volvo World Matchplay rather than the Hong Kong Open. Earlier in the week, I wasn't sure which one you were going to pick and so I logged in on Monday and last night to check whether you had put the thread up. When I last logged on at just before 11:00pm last night, there was no thread and so I assumed that, with the Volvo Matchplay starting just 12 hours later, you had decided to go with the Hong Kong Open.
It seems that a number of us have now missed one of the two events this week. The problem is compounded by the fact that it is arguably easier for us to score points in the Volvo Matchplay which comprises only 16 players than in the standard Euro Tour events which have over 100 players. For instance, for one of our picks to score us 40 points normally, they have to finish in the top 5 out of approximately 130 golfers. However, for one of our picks to score 40 points in the Volvo Matchplay, they just have to finish in the top 8 of 16 players.
I'm certainly not criticising or having a go at you because I can't even begin to imagine how difficult and time-consuming it must be for you to organise this tournament. I'm just concerned that this could have a significant bearing on the outcome of the tournament which would be a shame.
In any event, here are my picks for the Shriners and the Hong Kong Open:
Hong Kong Open
1) David Lipsky 2) Robert Jan Derksen 3) Gregory Bourdy Res) Nicolas Colsaerts
Shriners Hospitals Open
1) Martin Laird 2) Ryo Ishikawa 3) Brendan Steel Res) Nick Watney
Thanks again for organising this tournament Max and apologies in advance if this post comes across as unduly whiny! I'm knackered, I've got the flu and this just topped it off!
