thanks.

Wind seems to be totally gone. Soft greens....could be target practice. Late starters will certainly sit atop the leaderboard when first rd complete.

Taken my stake out of Horschel, Gonzo, Fowler and O'Hair. Happy enough with the overall position at the end of day one. Good luck with yours.

He's finally missed one. Had to happen.
Now bring on the storms. 54hole storms not 36. |

Stuart Appleby enjoyed a 5-under-par 33-32=65 for his opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
The Aussie called it quits before his second round of the Memorial with a back injury, but he has our attention for a different reason today. Returning to TPC Southwind early this morning, Appleby put the finishing touches on a splendid lid-lifter with a birdie-3 at the ninth hole. That chased a hole-in-one at the par-3 eighth where he wielded a 7-iron from 157 yards. Elsewhere, he traded four birdies with two bogeys. Two of those complementary par breakers measured between 11 and 13 feet. This matches his lowest aggregate of the season established four times previously. He was then just two strokes off the clubhouse lead BUT sadly that has all changed. Ben Crane fires a -5 under par (in the clubhouse) to follow his 1st Day minus -7 to lead at -12 while Stuart is going south with a double bogey on 12, +3 for the day (now thru 16 and currently at -2 for the Classic). The Cut looks like E par with 74 players or better looking good for the w/end. |
By:
glad he missed now, takes the pressure off not having made one yet for the weekend
|
By:
Really hard to say what we're looking at weather-wise. They've got in more than I expected so far (although looks likely a storm will hit later and prevent the 2nd round being completed today), and the forecast is for scattered storms the whole of the weekend, which could mean anything. Depending on their luck they could have 72 in by Sunday night or they could struggle to get in 54, no real way of knowing. My feeling is they'll get in 72 by hook or by crook but not sure there's much value in laying Ben at 3/1 when there's still uncertainty.
|
By:
Crane's first bogey on his 36th hole (bunkers his drive so ends up with 10ft 1in. par 4 putt, that goes 2ft 11in past)
|
By:
What price Crane if no-one gets past -7 after round 2?
|
By:
Mickelson and Dusty are 2nd and 3rd in the betting so it depends on their score after 36... no one gets to -7 3.00 - 3.25 if no one gets to -7 and Phil and Dusty go backwards or E ven Par BC might go as low as 2.5. Just guessing though tbh.
