He was not getting involved in the team meeting on Saturday evening when Jose Maria was picking the playing order. All players were asked where they would prefer. Olazabal detailed Darren Clarke to take him aside for a chat and stay with him during the singles. Maggot, yes of course he was part of an unforgetable 3 days for all of us. Hope you pick the Dubai winner. gl.

Rory is just too short this early when the course is giving up scores like these. Anyone within 4/5 shots can be considered potential winners with 36 holes left. If you look back at Rory's odds when he starts well after 18/36 you'd be in profit by laying him then. The downside @ 2.5-2.8 is very low as there will be time to trade around that.

That's why golf is great. And not God.

Agreed 100% ... before tournament and for 2 days you could back McIlroy @7.8....he did move in before the off to around 7.4ish. But 3.3 now is not for me. I have a small green on him but it is enough for me. If it were just 18 holes to play and not a clutter of players on his heels then, maybe about fair. I have a very nice green on Brendan Grace but am unsure whether he can put 2 more good rounds together. Hope I am wrong. Donald is my other green. Various red on many players but I hope my team pulls through.

lol thru that its coming out at a tenner aswell????

worked out what there doing - they are paying £3.33 @ 6.0 coming out at £16.67

but then taking off the losing part of £6.67 BUT THATS ALREADY PAID in initial stake!!

i'm sure i'm right but strange the calculater makes the same error

£10 @ 6.0 = £60. 3 way tie so only £20. £10 stake + £10 profit

still paying e/w odds on first 4, some look huge. The likes of Rose at 28-1 quite capable of doing something silly round here. Be hard to kick out Rory and Luke but theres a little mileage in a few of them from -6 up I reckon

ok, another way of looking at it:

£3.333 @ 6.0 + £6.666 @ 0 = £20 (ie £10 profit)

or if you prefer:

profit = £3.333 x 5.0 (the 1/3 that won) - £6.666 (the 2/3 that lost) = £10

The 4/7 on McIlroy to be top Irish player this week was easy money Cool
Report toberaheena November 24, 2012 4:10 PM GMT
@DRAGONDANCER.....Agreed. Ithought the only danger to McIlroy being top Irish player was Peter Lawrie as he has been getting better and better with every tournament. I cannot explain why his rise into the premier league of players has taken so long. I do not know much about him other than he did stay in U.C.D. to further his studies. There is a nice piece on him on the wilki site. Rory has that money in the bank for you already but I would expect Lawrie to stay for a consistent finish tomorrow. Am in a good position overall going into the final 18 after being all over the shop on Thursday. Best of luck to you.
Report toberaheena November 24, 2012 6:05 PM GMT
I have noted a very interesting thing re the betting market. Not withstanding the obvious chance of at least 6 others having a realistic chance of winning the tournament, I see Luke Donald is a shorter price for a top 5 finish than is McIlroy's price, yet in the winners market, the difference in price in favour of McIlroy is quite significant. My thoughts would see this as a fear that McIlroy might leave his main drive to the back 9 again, but this time Donald might have crept away too far. And to be sure, Rory may not have Tiger Woods positive attribute of fighting for every single shot, no matter what the circumstances. Still would not lay either of them, even at current odds on the place market. Would any of you guys take on the long odds onplace for the worlds numbers 1 and 2. What a treat of golf we have in store.
Report DONEMYLOT November 24, 2012 6:38 PM GMT
Did Rory have a fever or was it overdrinking for Thanksgiving. Either way, my book requires him to have 17 bottles of JD tonight.
Report THEMONEYSHOT November 24, 2012 7:20 PM GMT
Tobe' agree with you re; difference between Rory and Luke in the winners market, however: "6 others having a realistic chance of winning the tournament", absolutely no chance mate, it's between these two pal IMHO. I actually think Luke is a big price in a 2 horse race, but Im on both: 500 @ 3-1 (Rory) and luckily, backed Luke on here last night 450 @ 4.1, also got Louis, Charl and Branden in-play today as cover. Luke winning gives me the best pay-out, but who knows with The Boy Wonder ?
Report toberaheena November 24, 2012 11:16 PM GMT
I think you are definitely situated very well with the big 2. However, if you did wish, after a sleep, you can easily manage to trade for the same profit, whichever of the 2pair win.Nice punting to THEMONEYSHOT. @DONEMYLOT.... Luke is playing a lot steadier than Rory who has tended to play an average front and then burn the back 9.Rory can be streaky. But if he hits that groove....game,set and match to him. I have green on Rory, Luke and Justin. Also had a totally unreal bet on Manassero which went wollop but I am happy to have traded into having that 3 playing for my side. Good night and good luck tomorrow guys.

Hope everyone enjoyed watching, what I believe to be a great tournament. Not too bothered that the course played easy. Without the heavy rain on Wednesday night, things would have been much more of a challenge. I would also like to congratulate one particular forum subscriber who called the fact that we would end the week with a new course record thanks to Justin Rose and his amazing 62. This win for McIlroy will add thousands of spectators to attend his future events. Hope Rory will continue to play as many European Tour games as he can fit in. There will be enormous extra engagements now . Important that his management manage him advisedly, remembering his tender age. His corporate earnings should now skyrocket. Maybe it will be Tiger's turn next week. Bye for now and thanks to everyone for their contribution.
