and Kaymer i will say ive had a substantal Lump Race to Dubai 2010 @ 8/1 gone now ;)

Reasons i think Westwood will play a few more in the states and Rory will play less here

I really rate him and hes a VERY good Putter ..
Report Gary Binosh December 23, 2009 11:28 PM GMT
and just think with his injuries, he missed a fair bit, and he did the superb back to back wins which not many have, thats why hes my pick

and yes Eddie's had a great year only thing, as masch said, unlike kaymer, stricker, he hasnt been up against the very best all year

no and it's your opinion and he's had a good year. But youo put any decent golfer in the tournaments he played in they would probs get the same results. but to move in the top 50 in the world is a great achievement for a player who mainly played on the Challenge tour.

the hardest win Moli had was in Japan where he held off a rusty Karlsson.

i think i have over estimated Moli. thought he had great bottle but in the 2 S.A. tourny's he's played he hasn't been as good as i thought he would be.

well its obvious how i came up with him. The same way the players voted him the best. He had an off year and still managed as many pga tour wins as ogilvy or scott have had in their whole career. If you want to debate who was second best then start a thread. This thread is title who in your opinion is golfer of the year 2009 in my opinion it it tiger woods

next youll be saying Bolton have been the best footy team in 2009 MW ;)
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 23, 2009 11:52 PM GMT
i know you are

Woods has been caught with his pants down and in the excitement many people have forgotten how far ahead of the rest he is. The only thing that stopped him being even more dominant last year was his putting and if he sorts that and comes back anything like he will dominate again next year.
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 23, 2009 11:54 PM GMT
as we havent kept a clean sheet this season i could make a case for us being exciting but anyone who has seen more than 5 minutes of gary's torpedo it as far as you can style of football would quickly rubbish such an assumption..
Report Gary Binosh December 23, 2009 11:54 PM GMT
i guess im basing it on a comparison to other years, and Kaymer i feel has massively improved

but ofcourse there is no better player by a million miles than Tiger
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 23, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
i really like kaymer and could see him dominating europe next year but in terms of the best player their is only one contender. Think i might start a thread world top 5 for end of next season. Could provoke some intersting debate
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:00 AM GMT
is that who will be the best 5 in the , or who from the positions they already stand in ?
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:04 AM GMT
who will be ranked top 5 this time next year

id go

1. Woods
2. Stricker
3. Mickleson
4. Kaymer
5. McIlroy

Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:07 AM GMT
after a bad first half to the season, Pod was one of the best come the end, could have a good season
Report THE SPINNER December 24, 2009 12:07 AM GMT
pod .. its difficult to say how many tournies he will play .. yes i would place him top 5
Report THE SPINNER December 24, 2009 12:08 AM GMT
ok change that .. stricker out of top 5 :) bestt come back aggain for 2011 :^0
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:09 AM GMT
not sure how often will mickleson will play next year and think stricker is good value for a few wins plus he had a good points haul this year. No westwood he was fantastic in Dubai but im never sure of him under real pressure and would expect him to be steady but not spectacular next year. Pod would need a good year next year to retain his standings. In 2008 he won two majors points he will lose next year. Baring the PGA he has done next to nothing in the last twelve months.
Report mascherano December 24, 2009 12:10 AM GMT
i'd go ;

Woods (depends how long he's out for)
Micko
Westy
Stricker
Pod

Report mascherano December 24, 2009 12:13 AM GMT
no defo be in the top 10 though. just don't see him as a top 5 player... yet
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:13 AM GMT
i expect McIlroy and Kaymer to have better years than anyone bar tiger
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:16 AM GMT
Id like to see Ross Fisher really kick on next year and personally feel he is the best hope of a home groan star.

Westwood, Donald, Casey, Fisher, Poulter could all win a major next year. Rose and Wood would be outsiders.

With two of the majors at pebble and St Andrews a fit and ready Tiger would be a strong favourite.

its possible we will win one or more but probable none. Wish betfair had a market next englishmen to win a major up as i would be laying them all
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:18 AM GMT
Donald wont win a tournament, let alone a major mate :)

what price would you say though on any winning, any major ?

i think the chances are Westwood, Fisher, and Casey if fit, dont see any others having any chance
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:20 AM GMT
gary you are too hard on donald. Before he got injured he was a decent player. He has won on the PGA tour more than westwood, fisher, poulter, rose put together. If he can get a good run of injury free play we will contend again this year.
Report THE SPINNER December 24, 2009 12:21 AM GMT
i really look for improvers who can Putt if and its a big IF Mcilroy improves his Putting stats then i think he will be top 4 In my experience Great Putters just have a natural abillity you can go from Ave to good .... good to Great ...thats a different level
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:22 AM GMT
I personally dont think i am, but thats just my opinion, the fact that he alwasy seems to make the top 20, but yet never contend says alot to me, but hey, lets hope he proves me wrong next year
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:23 AM GMT
and if he wins a major, there would be no one happier than me

tell you what ill start a thread now, and if it goes wrong, it will give you and anyone else the opportunity to shame me :)
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:26 AM GMT
agree spinner it does come down to putting. That is why anyone can win on any given week. The winner is usually the guy who putts best. McIlroy always strikes me as being too agressive with the putter if he tones this down he will improve. Remember he is only 20 and has plenty of time to improve. Its not as if he is like Garcia who looks to have serious problems with the putter
Report THE SPINNER December 24, 2009 12:28 AM GMT
Gary... Donald will never have a decent chance until he gets away from totally mechhanical to slighty aggressive.. hes Another Timmy Henman im afraid.

He frustrates everyone accepts a bogey with a smile .. you need to have a bit about you in this game.

Luke get in the Gym ... and lift more than 5KG's .. you can just imagine him warming up with those Crome Dumbells that ladies use :^0
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:28 AM GMT
spot on MW - McIlroy is much different to SG as you said he has serious problems, where as Rory is just like most other young golfers, always racing them past, with so much confident they dont believe theyll miss the one coming back
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:29 AM GMT
Spinner, thats what ive said all year about him, infact its exactly that, know one else really gets where im coming from, im glad you see :) he just plays it too safe imo
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:31 AM GMT
I know what you mean about donald but he isnt the longest hitter but he does ok with what he has got. Prior to his injury he used to contend regularly usually falling back on saturday usually followed by a good sunday. He has top 5s in 3 of the majors so it isnt impossible he could content again if he gets an injury free year
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:33 AM GMT

is this the furyk who hasnt won in nearly 3 years on the pga tour?

I think this furyk is much longer than donald anyway
Report THE SPINNER December 24, 2009 12:37 AM GMT

Report mascherano December 24, 2009 12:40 AM GMT
Mighty, Winged Foot. how long was the course. 7.800 yards. included a 280 yard par 3 that Pavin couldn't get too. Monty should have won another short hitter. Ogilvy was handed the tournament by Micko and Monty.
Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:41 AM GMT
he has won in the past, but as spinner says, he now has a losers demener, and plays it too safe, and thats why im CONFIDENT my thread will stay in tact ;)
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:42 AM GMT
the most important thing in the us open certainly a few years ago was hitting the fairway. Length wasnt as important as accuracy

Report Gary Binosh December 24, 2009 12:48 AM GMT
hmmmm, thats and interesting one, not sure really, what price do you think, him winning one over the entire season would be ?

i guess it would be odds on, but there no market, so its just for boasting rights ;)
Report Mighty Whites 2008 December 24, 2009 12:50 AM GMT
odds on your having a giraffe. He will probably play 25 times next season and i bet i can get on at odds higher than 25/1 he wins
Report mascherano December 24, 2009 12:52 AM GMT

would expect around 30 or more on both tours.

i would give you 12-1 he wins at least once.
