The prices at skybet are awful!!!!

Woods T 7/4
Mickelson P 12/1
Westwood L 16/1
Harrington P 16/1
Garcia S 22/1
Fisher R 25/1
McIlroy R 25/1
Poulter I 28/1
Els E 28/1
Stenson H 28/1
Kaymer M 33/1
Goosen R 33/1
Kim A 33/1
Wilson O 40/1
Allenby R 40/1
Yang Y-E 40/1
O'Hair S 40/1
Casey P 45/1
Dyson S 45/1
Villegas C 50/1

If Tiger wasn't playing these prices would be about right but with him playing they should be double this surely? Dyson 45/1 you are having a laugh!
Report the muppet moans November 2, 2009 3:51 PM GMT
I would tend to agree with you on all those - however the one I do think he has right is Dyson - 66/80 far too big - twice a winner recently including in a good quality field at the Dunhill and you must remember Asia was where he honed his skills as a young player
Report He's topped it November 2, 2009 4:43 PM GMT
In this company I would want 80/1. It's like a Major field.
Report Baggers November 2, 2009 4:43 PM GMT
Got to agree with HTI, 103% the Top 20 when it should be about 90& the Top 30 imo

If you are short the potential EW steals, you have to be bang on Tiger's price
Report Baggers November 2, 2009 4:46 PM GMT
To be fair, just looked at the strength of the field and I would be 100% the Top 25 so not that far out

Go 2/1 Tiger and you will be nearly bang Sky ;)
Report the muppet moans November 2, 2009 4:59 PM GMT
Its not really a Major field - several top players missing, reduced strength in depth and only 78 players - some great e/w prices about esp 500/1 Yuta Ikeda!!
Report drumm November 2, 2009 5:13 PM GMT
where the hell did you come accross 500/1 Ikeda???

Report drumm November 2, 2009 5:22 PM GMT

Report Take My Money, I Don't Want It November 2, 2009 5:43 PM GMT
Yong looks a fantastic bet to me at 80/1, won here before and will be greeted with open arms by the Asian crowds. Definitely worth an each way punt..
Report Happy Shankers November 2, 2009 6:00 PM GMT
I take it you mean Yang? The 80/1 with Laddies does look quite attractive tbh.
Report Take My Money, I Don't Want It November 2, 2009 6:03 PM GMT
Yong-Eun Yang, yes. 80/a looks a blinding bet to me, especially each way. Must have a fantastic chance of a top 5 finish imo.
Report Mighty Whites 2008 November 2, 2009 6:14 PM GMT
nice to see the americans pulling out on mass
Report Perseus November 2, 2009 6:22 PM GMT
I actually think it's wrong that the money in the WGC events goes towards world rankings. Basically you are top 50 (or whatever it is) then you get a chance to consolidate that position. Same scenario that has unfolded with 'big 4' and Champions league
Report Take My Money, I Don't Want It November 2, 2009 6:23 PM GMT
If your good enough you'll eventually get into the top 50...
Report Mighty Whites 2008 November 2, 2009 6:25 PM GMT
i tend to agree perseus, although with the two year cycle if you have a run of poor form you can quickly fall down the rankings such as Justin Rose and Adam Scott. This event and the bridgestone give weighting towards those with a win in the last twelve months. The Americans who have withdrawn are going to lose out and allow some of the lesser likes an opportunity to pick up points
Report mascherano November 2, 2009 9:55 PM GMT

Disgrace by American players, the only WGC outside the States, and they won't bother showing up. If they're afraid to miss the cut, tell them this is a no-cut event...
Report Knight Rider November 3, 2009 6:21 AM GMT
In fairness it's a strange time of year to put a WGC event. This is supposed to be the offseason really. Don't blame some of them for taking time off rather than flying halfway around the world for extra bucks.

golfalot joins on hanson...

EU Tour: HSBC Champions As the 2009 Race to Dubai enters the closing stretch The HSBC Champions event returns to the Sheshan course in China for the fifth time in succession. The par 72 course is not long at 7,165 yards but with the greens having firmed up in recent years scoring has certainly been tougher than in 2005 when David Howell shot 20 under par.

OUTRIGHT: Phil Mickelson 1pt Win Only 13/1
Mickelson has already won this event in 2007 and finished inside the top ten last year despite a poor final round 73. Despite some average recent form he can be expected to keep up his good showing here on a course he seems to fancy.

OUTRIGHT: Oliver Wilson 1pt Win and Place 55/1
Wilson changed his coach this season and his form seemed to tail off a bit. That trend appears to have ended recently with some decent performances over the last six weeks or so including a runner up finish in the Dunhill Links. Hence it is possible we might see a repeat of his form here last season which saw him finish in second place to Sergio Garcia.

OUTRIGHT: Peter Hanson 1pt Win and Place 66/1
Admittedly Hanson is playing very well at the moment with three top ten finishes in his last four outings and has excellent course form of 19T 05, 3T 08. But it is the huge incentive this week in the form of a prospective Masters slot if he can finish this season inside the top fifty in the world rankings that makes him a pick this week. A big finish this week would seal his place in that select field.

Greg Chalmers @ 50 top 5 finish.

Been playing some consistent golf on the US Tour. Granted on easy tracks but has shot 11 rds in the 60`s out of his last 16 played.

Has finished in the top 5 twice out of 26 tournaments played this season.

He`s also out early so hopefully gets off to a good start.

O Wilson - still waiting for that elusive first win, but definitely has the quality and a good record here.

A few outsiders I like at big prices are Laird, Marino, W T Lin and forum favourite Katayama who seems a huge price given his record in Asia.

Also did you get a reply from that cadddy agency.

Have you thought about getting some caddy experience on the seniors tour next season?
Report Take My Money, I Don't Want It November 4, 2009 7:05 PM GMT
No reply from the caddy agency, I must be too ugly. And no I haven't thought about seniors tour, yet. The thing is I am half way through my PGA training so I really have to finish that first before I start thinking about travelling around europe; having said that if Quiros offered me his bag I would run away with him tommorow....
And I haven't go Laird in the comp cos I don't need that many points, thought tactically my picks were better for the comp victory.
Report Take My Money, I Don't Want It November 4, 2009 7:10 PM GMT
Laird has to be a cracking bet at that price, even if just for a trade. Recently won in terrific circumstances, holing some decent length putt to get into the playoff.
Then contented the following week aswell after a poor first round. If you were to put these players in a form table, he would be in the top 5...
