This has been a bit overstated has it not, UIGEA has not been lifted yet.

Gambling firm Paddy Power Betfair has said it is in talks over a merger in the US with fantasy sports site Fan Duel.
Talks centre around combining its US operation with Fan Duel to create a business to "to target the prospective US sports betting market".
It comes as the American Supreme Court overturned 1992 legislation that banned sports betting in most US states.
Fan Duel allows sports fans to gamble on fantasy sports leagues and contests.

Paddy Power Betfair entered the US fantasy sports market last year with the acquisition of Draft, a US fantasy sports site, for $48m (£35m).
The Dublin-based gambling firm already has a US division, which includes the TVG Network, a horseracing TV channel and online betting network which is active in 35 states.
And in the state of New Jersey, the company has an online casino and a horse racing betting exchange.
A merger with Fan Duel would give it access to millions of potential sports betting fans.

Does the usa still have a 25% tax on betting winnings? Add that the states cut, betfairs commission and potentially premium charge - won't be much of those winnings left.

i doubt they will promote the exchange

but the fantasy players seem quite strong on twitter, so doubtless they will find the exchange
if it becomes available in usa

The exchange is available for New Jersey horse racing, ringfenced and 12% commission.

this ban has only been lifted for new jersey so far, and 1 other state, but it should open the floodgates for sure. if most of the states open up wouldn't it make more sense for betfair to promote the exchange rather than compete with the endless new bookmakers that could pop up?? and we don't yet know how this will affect online bookmakers.

I looked a bit closer into it, unfortunately it's only a step closer to Americans on the exchange and this step took a very long time. The key thing that needs to be removed is indeed the UIGEA. The lifting of this (PASPA) just means Americans can bet within their own state again (if their state decides to) and even then only with companies registered within that state and I thiiiiiiink not online, as in only casino's race courses etc.

@grrrrowl, does it mean that they will have their amewrican version of exchange same as Italy, Spain etc?

they would have to have a different version for each state maybe? or one for the states that have repealed the bill i think?
