I can't stand Betfairs new site, I've hated it from day one, and I've used it about twice, and only then because I had no choice.
I only want to use the old site, but no matter how many times I click the link to take me to the old site, it doesn't work.
I've tried different browsers, clearing my cache, just about everything. It's as if I'm being forced to use the new site, which is something I really don't want to do.
Sort this Betfair, it's doing my head in.

With Firefox;

Bring up betfair,
Disable Ad blocker on mozilla,
Click on "old site" on BF, it should go there.
Enable Ad Blocker again on mozilla,
Restart and you should still have it, that's the way i get around it as no fan of the "new site" either.

People have been giving dates for some time now and they're never correct. Having said that, I have heard it'll be switched off this year. May wouldn't surprise me as no major football tournament in the summer.

I really wish they could just keep it running, it's pretty much ideal. The new site is a mess.
Report Barton Bank March 15, 2015 7:31 PM GMT
They will lose business if they ever shut down the old site and deep down they must know that the new site is a needless and expensive failure.
Report pxb March 15, 2015 10:46 PM GMT
If they close the old site, I'll go to the Geekstoy, even though I don't need any of it's features.

Displaying cricket odds in a soccer format is just ridiculous.

so i am trying to get into the old site now. it's worked fine for me for years, and even though i have a new laptop i have been using the old site on it for at least a month with no problems. last night during some live betting my browser was suddenly riddled with lag and freezes, i use chrome as well which makes it even more strange, at the time i just thought it was my wifi being slow but streaming media on different websited told me otherwise. now today when i log in the same thing happens. i try and get onto the old site and my browser starts freaking out and slowing down the rest of my tabs. could be possible that it's in the process of being taken down i suppose... i haven't had time to check if it still works on other pc's yet. or it could quite possibly be some technical difficulties on their end. even the sportsbook site is spazzing out and im unable to access my bet results  which i wanted to check tonight.

anyone else been getting problems with any of the betfair sites the last day or so?

It's starting to get very sticky again for me over the last couple of days. Have no problems accessing it though.
Report TedButler March 16, 2015 1:02 PM GMT
I'm getting there eventually, about 3 times out of 5, but always desperately slowly, and definitely not like I've been able to access it in the past.
It's doing my head in, because I really can't get on with the new site I absolutely hate it.
Is this deliberate? or do Betfair just need to get someone on the case to fix it?
Report Coachbuster March 16, 2015 4:26 PM GMT
deliberately done ?

BF wouldn't do that would they ?
Report Darlo Bantam March 16, 2015 4:59 PM GMT
They can't turn the old site off (yet) since it's the only place you can get Australian wallet markets.
Report TedButler March 16, 2015 7:20 PM GMT
I'm getting nowhere now, and I won't bet until I can get on a site that I'm happy to use.
The link to the old site just doesn't work.
Report tommycockles March 16, 2015 7:33 PM GMT
Ted- have you tried the link I posted above?
Report TedButler March 16, 2015 7:39 PM GMT
I used it earlier Tommy, and it did work for me, although it was still slow.
The reason I have just logged in, is to look for it again, and it's just worked.

Report tommycockles March 16, 2015 7:41 PM GMT
No problem

Cheers tommy - mainly use Gruss so not affected too much, but useful for some sports markets.

What I don't get is why we can still access the old site?

Is there something stopping them from just turning it off?
Report screaming from beneaththewaves August 12, 2015 10:59 PM BST
Aus/NZ legislation doesn't permit casino advertising on sports betting sites. As casino advertising is the sole real purpose of the new site, they can't offer it to Aus/NZ customers or for anyone anywhere betting on events covered by their Aus/NZ licence.

So if it were switched off, nobody Down Under could bet on anything, and nobody anywhere else could bet on anything taking place in NZ or Australia.

The more this saga unravels, the more you realize that the people behind it are setting an ongoing benchmark for IT c0ck-ups.
Report caramba August 17, 2015 4:33 PM BST
is the optout link working for people? It isn't for me. Is it a case of it working only for users from some countries but not from others? I'm not in the UK.
Report tommycockles September 9, 2015 6:03 PM BST

I wanted to let you know with plenty of notice that the Betfair Classic site will be turned off on Tuesday 15th September and any URL you have for the Classic site will no longer work.

Thank you,

Yepp, just got the same E-mail.

I replied asking if there's an option of a working site when the old is turned off. I'm not expecting an answer but glass half full and all that.

I couldn't get the opt-out link to work on my main PC yesterday and still can't today.

Bizarrely it still works on my laptop - what's that all about?
Report pxb September 10, 2015 11:21 AM BST
Old site still works fine for us Aussies. which means it hasn't been turned off, nor will it the foreseeable future. You are just blocked from using it.

If you are desperate, use a VPN to get an Australian IP address.

Betfair mimicking the Chinese government now.
Report sleepless September 10, 2015 9:42 PM BST
@pxb - I think you overstated the situation. The old site most certainly does work for us Aussies. As to whether it works fine is extremely questionable. Finding games now with no coupons in the left hand menu for one thing is incredibly frustrating.
Report pxb September 10, 2015 10:12 PM BST
sleepless, what is a 'coupon'?
Report sleepless September 10, 2015 10:39 PM BST
In the left hand margin, we used to click on In Play coupon or one for a particular day of the week to bring up the games relevant to that sport and day. It was a much quicker way to navigate the site. They have disappeared and if we have to ring a bet through "in play" it takes the operator twice as long to find the game we want to bet on unless we are already in the market.
Report Darlo Bantam September 11, 2015 12:09 AM BST
Betfair's decision to stop using the old coupons has been the biggest problem for me since the old site was turned off.
Report sleepless September 11, 2015 1:17 AM BST
Betfair's own staff don't know how to navigate their way around the site. Being in Oz I have to phone bets through in play and I have to tell them how to get to certain markets. Just to complicate issues it seems like they have just replaced the whole telephone staff who are pretty much clueless to begin with.
Report sleepless September 11, 2015 1:18 AM BST
You guys complain about 12 second timers, try 3 minute phone calls

Not really relevant to cricket, except maybe IPL and BBL. Which is probably why I never used the feature.
