This is a thread to show how you can make money off the forum by going against people’s opinions. I have picked out a thread called ‘The SADO Thread’ and will go up against some self-called Maestros. It is a thread to make money, I have nothing against any of the tipsters but I will have some light humour along the way and uncover some truths.

i think arsenal at 4 almost look like a back now - the kids are looking for a go in the 1st team & have been v impressive in the cola cola cup - i've taken arsenal 3-2 at 50 & the greeks 3-2 at 38

He thinks Arsenal are a value bet so lets lay Arsenal @4

Olympiakos 2-1 Arsenal (+0.95 we win)

thought on a bit and having a speculative interest on shakhtar as follows

the last thing either side will want to see happen is a perceived carve up , particularly juve with their history and the british press sniffing around cos of the chelsea factor, i cant see either side downing tools if they are level until late in the game , maybe after 70 mins - so for at least the first half i reckon both sides will go for it , particularly juve who cant afford to lose , and a close high scoring game may happen - the ludicrously low 3-3 price indicates this as a possibility

therefore with possible early goals i'm taking a small interest in AOS at 22 and will look to trade out in-play

He said early goals and lots of them so I’m betting ht 0-0 @3.3

Shaktar 0-1 Juventus (0-0 ht so I win +2.19)

might just have to lay a little of the 3-3  and a bigger lay on 2-2, i can see a prearranged fix, its too high profile and just takes one pair of loose lips, however the players may themselves take it upon themselves to play out a goalless draw, or even 1-1. its harder to see a manipulated 2-2, 3-3 imo

just read this back and it looks like gobblydeegook but what the hell im going with it

04 Dec 12 14:49

scom i dont think anyone would risk arranging a result as such these days - people have gone to prison & its not quite the italian way to be so obvious, a 0-0 where the game died early in the 2nd half would really look too awful & would have consequences beyond this game

certainly a 1-1 is v possible but for me a 2-2 is more likely, of course we will never know but I reckon if there are any tacit "discussions" anywhere they would go along the lines of, well lets play a "normal" game , but of course if near the end both sides are able to obtain a point this is a good result for both clubs , from an italian perspective there is nothing "wrong" with this approach

wasnt there a game last season where it looked an obvious draw and 2-2, and 3-3 were so incredibly short they just had to be laid

I think they are insinuating a draw here so lets lay DRAW ca.@1.96 (they mention the draw was odds-on)

Shaktar 0-1 Juventus (+0.95 we win)

may be a trade brewing on sunday real betis 11 v barca , messi looks v unlikely to recover when carried off tonite , betis (sevilla game excepted) are a dour resilient side esp at home beating real 1-0 a couple of weeks back , may come in to single figures

Betis 1-2 Barca (Messi with both goals inc. the first goalscorer)

videoton look a big price at 4.9 at sporting lisbon - sporting have failed, are bottom and out and poor in the portuguese league scoring only 5 goals in 5 games at home , videoton need to win to qualify if results go well in belgium and look an ok side

We will lay Videoton @4.9

Sporting 2-1 Videoton (+0.95 we win)

bridge , I'll be accused of ATing but thats the name of the thread (good idea that), took 0-0 at 18.5 yesterday & 1-0 panny at 32, they are a good defensive side and prices now are similar to the spurs v wigan game so maybe about right

the lpool price at odds on looks ridiculously low, trying to work out Udinese exact incentive here but I'm going 1-0 udinese at 15.5 anyway

They are insinuating a tight game in London so lets bet Over 2.5 @1.7

Tottenham 3-1 Panathinaikos (we win 0.7)

“Liverpool price looks ridiculously low” so we will do the opposite and bet Liverpool @1.8

Udinese 0-1 Liverpool (we win 0.8)

im not involved in these games tonite but pardew has told travelling fans before they bought tickets not to expect a win tonite..theyve already qualified and are seriously understrengthed with a front pairing of campbell(who?) and ranger (da wannabe gangsta)

SCOM would have had a win here as Newcastle lost 2-0 but he didn’t get involved. Unlucky!

evening gents the mug punters are out in full force tonight. defoe 4/1 with bet 365 or you can have just over 3/1 with me .

i cleared up nicely on the shaktar vs juve correct score market. backed 0-1 and 1-0 heavily either side and layed the living daylights out of 1-1 2-2 and 3-3. one thing which was bad is that when juve scored i had to toss value away and start backing 1-1 at 3.45 when it should of been much higher or would of risked a four figure loss if they eqaulised and it stayed 1-1.

i lost £180 on the cricket unfortunatley and considering i upped my stakes for the third test from 1k to 2k i'm not to disspointed by this. if i'd of held out for another seshion i could of got green but due to my lack of knowledge on the sport i want a trade their when i wake up after the first few hours play .

i have a great trading tip for this weekend in my opinion. liverpool at 2.54 away at west ham. we all know what happens to liverpool don't need to go into that. but one thing i was thinking about is they played swansea away last week and went off at 2.12 (backed in again).  now if you gave me a choice of swansea or west ham at the same odds to beat liverpool at home i'd choose swansea. so then bear in mind that west ham are in good form but newcastle were last season and liverpool went 2.46 into 2.24 at st.james park. so we know form dosen't come into consideration so finally throw in they have just played in the europa league and i still reckon 2.3 on liverpool we'll see .

Here comes the young prodigy with useless aftertiming. He layed Defoe a wise move as Adebayor scored the first goal of 3 for tottenham and Defoe only scored the last goal. These Mug Punters will be back to haunt him later in the thread.

i'm amazed by west brom's price at 7.6 , you would expect a v similar game to arse v swansea - swans & wba away records are v similar & they play a similar game - i've taken wba 3-0 at 250 & 3-3 85 to trade too

& what about sunderland 5.0 v a v fragile chelsea - i thought sunderland were good 2nd half at norwich & chelsea at w ham (again sunderland will play a similar game) well.....

smithy91
06 Dec 12 20:40

i agree green army on west brom. and chelsea are a lay at 1.83 although i said that last weekend against west ham only to wake up on saturday morning with a red screen

Our bets going against the aces:

Lay WBA @7.6 (Green Army)
Lay Sunderland @5.0 (Green Army)
Bet Chelsea @1.83 (Smithy)

Results:
Arsenal 2-0 WBA (we win 0.95)
Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea (we win 1.74)

been a bit of an epic day with spurs , the draw at eden gardens and now laying the 0-0 at 14 at ewood tonite

west brom coming in nicely too for tomorrow - are wigan almost worth a back now at 2.52, qpr haven't won in 16 tries

Our bet is to lay Wigan against the advice of that Green Army chap who thinks he has spotted a bit of value @2.52

Wigan 2-2 QPR (we win 0.95)

GA- Just wondering.....how bad are Plymouth at the moment? Surprised to see my team (the mighty York  ) so short for their trip to Home Park this aft. Admittedly York have a decent away record (only 3 defeats in 25 or something) but surprised they are so short today. Cheers

green army
08 Dec 12 11:36

arse 0-0 all done - but down on sunderland, amazed at the confidence in chelsea - i'm having a good old fashioned punt at these prices

tommy - things at home park feel even lower than last year , at least we had some fight , the players aren't that bad but just waiting for the manager to go , he's a friend of the new owner , maybe today will be the last game ,your price is about right , anything over 2.5 is good

Golden rule of betting is don’t bet on your own team Tommycockles but I will lay you the bet so lay York 2.5 (2pts because Green Army agrees). He can’t believe the price on Chelsea... it’s too short he thinks and he’s having a good old-fashioned punt (laying Chelsea). We like punts so we will bet Chelsea again, 2pts because it’s a punt.

agreed green army i've layed at 1.66 and 1.7 and torres anytime scorer as usual 21 goals in nearly 90 appearances should not make 2.84

This is getting boring now. I’m not taking more money off them by betting Chelsea again but I’ll have some of Smithy’s Torres Anytime @2.84

Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea (Torres 2 goals inc. first goalscorer) we win 1.75

fancy fulham to regain the winning thread tomorrow night, or may just lay newcastle for a bit of insurance

SCOM comes into the picture now with a fancy of Fulham. He is being cautious though by only laying Newcastle, we will do the opposite and back Newcastle @ca.4.3

Also Reading are hopless away, long journey up north. Sunderland gonna be desperate for a win.

the draw has come in on the cricket guys.tonight I will place a lay and hopefully I wont wake up at 4 like last week which was just to early :(.as for last night I traded the valenciannes vs psg game live at 6 on espn. the lowest bookie price on zlatan ibrahimovic to score first was 3/1 yet punters were hammering into my 3.7. I even got matched again at 3.7 after 20 mins in play. low and behold he netted first and went on to score a hatrick. I then shut my laptop and went out to play football instead of trading the arsenal game.hope for better luck in the cricket this week

Hopefully Smithy will have learnt his lesson laying goalscorers now after his Torres and Zlatan losses. Not forgetting his lucky Defoe aftertime. Let’s find out.

smithy the draw price looks immense, aggers reckons it'll spin from day 1 with cracks already visible and england may even play a 3rd spinner , treadwell , with finn doubtful

i'm already a little down as englands price is out , tho lord knows why theyre still the more likely side to win the game, but anyway , stick with the draw

swansea have a couple out tonite and boro are good away from home and look ok at these prices

Green Army fancies Boro in the Coca Cola Cup. I have no prices but Swansea won the Cup so a return of 0.95 points for me once Betfair have taken their cut.

hi guys nice work on the cricket.my month for december so far taken some fairly hefty blows etc in play along the way. last sunday in particular was a tough one to take. got caught out in play with man united scoring against the run of play, got done over with two stoppage time goals from everton after i layed them at odds on against tottenham then finally liverpool came back to win 3-2 at west ham after i'd backed west ham at 10s when they were 1-0 down. as soon as diame went off injured the game changed completely in liverpools favour . i did however manage a cheeky bet in that game. if anyone can remember back to liverpool's winning goal on sunday it looked debatable whether it was shelvey's goal or a james collins own goal. as soon as i saw the replays that collins got the touch i left money up to lay shelvey last goalscorer and some people were tricked into thinking he got the touch.

Football / West Ham v Liverpool : Match Odds 09-Dec-12 16:00  09-Dec-12 17:57  -401.00

this is december so far-

Cricket: -£180.87 | Football: £1,047.13 | Special Bets: £97.43 | Tote: |  Total P&L:  £963.69

the cricket will be back in  profit after the fourth test in settled. if anyone's wondering what the special bets is well my obsession with gambling has now reached reality tv programs . instead of trading roma vs fiorentina last saturday i opted to trade the x factor final .

Special Bets / The X Factor 2012 : Winner 08-Dec-12 20:00  09-Dec-12 21:32  97.43

these are my predicted price movements this weekend so we'll see how close we get:

stoke vs everton everton 2.52 into 2.4
norwich vs wigan norwich 2.3 into 2.12
blackpool vs blackburn 2.16 into 2. (blackpool were 6/5 with laddies and corals yday)

with the everton game i don't believe the odds are out of line but everton keep getting backed in every week and i can't see them going towards 2.6 for this fixture so IMO its a low risk trade. last season everton went 2.76 into 2.36 for this fixture and i was on the wrong end of the price move.

as for norwich green army already pointed this one out. wigan with injuries and look out of sorts norwich anything but and taken some decents scalps at home already. hopefully the 4-1 defeat midweek to villa in the carling cup will be overlooked by punters here.

i'm off to bloomfield road tommorow for blackpool vs blackburn to watch us more than likely get beat. our 4-1 defeat to cardiff last weekend on friday night was there for everyone to see live on skysports. we were dreadful and henning berg has only won 1 game since taking charge and that was against peterborough who are also terrible. at this rate steve kean will be getting a phonecall to return . as for backing blackpool i expect them to crash into evens at sumpoint tommorow and they are lit up blue on oddschecker which dosen't suprise me. they got a decent point away at palace last weekend and should have to much for us.

Cricket / India v England (3rd Test) : Match Odds 05-Dec-12 03:30  09-Dec-12 04:26  -180.87
Cricket / India v England (2nd Test) : Match Odds 23-Nov-12 04:00  26-Nov-12 05:26  363.49
Cricket / India v England (1st Test) : Match Odds 15-Nov-12 04:00  19-Nov-12 07:24  272.21
                          (4th test) : match odds                                   £317

just like to say thanks to green army, SCOM and malky for help with the cricket some good info noted there i'm very happy to have made a decent profit overall from the four tests  another thing i learnt from the cricket is that i'm definetly not a normal human being. if you go to bed at 11pm which normal people wake up at 4am then at 5:30am both without an alarm clock. just me then. this happened in the fourth test and the third test. i don't do this when football is on maybe its because big money is going in play.

man city in the early kickoff tommorow away at newcastle currently 1.72. well kompany is a major doubt after limping out of the manchester derby last week and kolo toure is not an adequate replacement for him. if this happens i'd expect their price to drift out to 1.8.

finally under 2.5 is to short in stoke vs everton at 1.69. when everton play away from home these days they go out to attack teams and five of their away games this season in the premier league have gone over 2.5 goals. i can appreciate stoke are a big unders team at home but i wouldn't be suprised to see a 2-1 scoreline either way here. i'd price unders up closer to 1.8. best of luck for the weekend

Smithy has gone some here. I can only think of one winning Fulham trade so far but somehow he is 900 up, amazing scenes. In fairness they have had some luck in another sport thanks to some well- known strategy. From what I’ve seen so far they should stick to cricket or aftertiming. Some more price predictions from the young gun but I see a sneaky match thought at the end of his contribution. So I’ll bet Under 2.5 goals @1.69. Also another nugget to add to my strategy is look for all blue on Oddschecker.

Stoke 1-1 Everton (I win +0.66)

test match draws are the gift that keeps giving, the draw has now drifted from 2.9 at stumps to 3.2 now and has drifted similarly yesterday and throughout the last test - it really is a "full bank free money" jobby as they say on the footy forum

with you on most of those smithy tho do watch wigan as they were well backed in this fixture at the end of last season - I cant play tomorrow as I'm in winter wonderland & Hambleys, could be a costly outing

I cant see much of interest on sunday either tho talking of special bets I did back Jessica Ennis at 12s (aftertiming now 8.6) for bbc sports personality as the male / female vote is often split and women may overwhelmingly vote for her rather than wiggins

“Test match draws are the gift that keep giving”,  I hope they don’t lay the draw in New Zealand come March as they could wipe out all this free profit they have made recently. I spot another piece of early aftertiming, so I’m laying Jessica Ennis @8.6

I win as Bradley Wiggins lifts the trophy (+0.95)

hi u.a. last season for me it was 100% pre off bets. i felt i wasn't ready to break into in play trading at the time and i feel it was a great decision. i even managed to walk away from euro 2012 after four days being £500 down from in play bets and give it more work.

eventually i want to become a match reader but at the minute i only trade selected televised matches when i can. if i was doing this full time i'd simply have to do all the games as it would be the only source of income. i would say i'm looking at about 70%in play bets now and 30% pre off.

i still believe though pre off tradng is a great way of making money. looking at olympiacos the other week (2.9 into 1.95 against arsenal) the graph was like a ski slope and was a reminder to me what a good system it can be. so for me at the minute i'm enjoying mixing the two together. i'm off work from 21st december until 7th of january now that will be an interesting time for me. an abundance of fixtures to trade and tbh i can't wait!

The prodigy goes on to conduct an interview in which he says he wants to become a match reader. I tried that too but the referees killed me every time. Oh I forgot a CL trade in Greece he won so maybe that 900 profit was real. Like a ‘ski slope’ in Greece it was. Fair play to the lad, how did he do it?

Another goalscorer lay here but he didn’t let us know before the game so I couldn’t lay the bet. Mario Gomez did come on at ht but luckily for the Maestro another player hit the equalizer. Green Army did say Monchengladbach at 55s but Smithy jinxed it at ht with his post. To be fair GA has had around 50 guesses so far at CSs, he is gonna get one right eventually. Crucially though, I thought these were trades rather than bets. I’m not going back and laying all his CS guesses… but I win, trust me or we would have heard about a right one.

pays for the weekend

looks like be another great week for threadites...

You couldn’t make it up could you, top trading IP from the great. Another great week for threadites? Take away Carlos’ bet and Bridgeboys odds-on shots and I can’t remember laying a winning bet so far.

Total after pages 1-13
+19.11 pts off the boys to level stakes (laying like a bookie to 1pt stake)
22 wins for me (that’s 22 losing bets for the dream team)
4 losses (that’s 4 winning bets for the not so dream team, Carlos and Bridgeboy accounted for three)

I genuinely have not edited the bets in any way or left out any MATCH predictions. This shows how you can make money off the forum by going against the human prediction. Posting here leads to added pressure, picking ‘safe’ options and hence making poor value bets. Mug bets some like to say Wink

This is only 13 pages of 63 but I’m sure if you go through the rest of the thread or forum for that matter you will make money. The more confident and more detailed their analysis is the better (football).

On this particular thread I did not record the trades or back to lay predictions of price movements that they claim to make money on. They may well succeed in this style of betting  but they do not make money predicting outcomes of matches that is for sure (like 99.9% of the rest of us).

The only way you can win is if the odds are wrong, so forget trying to predict outcomes, it can’t be done.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Albert Einstein.

Why I posted
1. prove how bad human prediction is
2. how you can make money going against the grain
3. protect others that may get sucked into thinking that betting is easy and subsequently lose money
4. protect others that may take bad advice from a prolific losing thread despite the cherry picked winners that get broadcast
5. prevent ramping
6. help the contributors improve their betting and rethink
7. give Ken some peace
8. too much time on my hands

That is very  impressive and funny fair play. Made me laugh. All I can say is I'm 6k up for 2013 so you must have missed some bets off lol. Again I will ask about my unders trades from the last month or so. Just where are they lets see them please? I'm sure it's not to much to ask you've done very well already :)

To be fair SCOM you don't score too badly so far I've only gone through the first 1 to 13 pages and soon got tired. I am only interested in football outcome predictions (not back to lay trades as i can't monitor them). From the looks of it so far, as I already stated you should stick to cricket or aftertiming. Pre-match bets or even half time aftertiming you are all well down bar Carlos who popped in for one bet. In particular Green Army and Smithy who are bad tipsters. Smithy you may be 6k up, I don't care either way but not on this thread and not through predicting outcomes.

My first against the grain tip? I'm waiting for you lot Wink  If I backfitted and chose the best bets, can you point out one winning football prediction I left out in pages 1-13? Why would I lie to myself when the plan is to make money from the forum mystics. When you research a system you don't leave out losing selections to shoot yourself in the foot later down the line. Go through the forum and media, it's full of bad tips and as you call them Mug Punters. It just proves how bad humans are at predicting events, whether it be the weather, economics or football matches. This is how the bookmakers stayed alive in the old days before they turned into casinos.

Thinking about it.. this thread is one complete backfit. Cherry-picked winning selections are broadcast to cover up a big losing thread. It's nothing new, we have seen this type of backfitting since the invention of the telephone and those 0898 tipping lines.

greenarmy and smithy, why don't you respond? The other stooge has and appears
the least culpable. My view is that green army is the biggest of the stooges
(the 3 stooges, yes, I like that) All he can do is bring up an old pick of
mine from weeks ago etc...

Come on, defend yourself..stop waffling..

Yomomma It's human nature, the best ones are when they subconsciously predict without even knowing it. Like I said it's nothing against any of the posters, they are only human but I hope it builds a clearer picture for other readers who might take bad advice from a losing thread.

Why do you think bookmakers are only too happy to take football bets from any league in the World on dozens of markets? It's because they know the punters don't have an edge and ultimately 99% of them will give any winnings back eventually.

Horse and dog racing is another matter as more and more punters are becoming more knowledgable, bookies no longer have the edge so they don't want to take a bet. Since the introduction of the internet and numerous racing sites, punters can fully research a race, watch all the videos of every run from the comfort of their own home and spot the wrong prices. I'm guessing back in the day you had to go racing to stand a chance. Dog track bookies haven't a chance now with all the shrewdies about.

But for every loser on BF there has to be a winner, I'd be v surprised if there are any long term winners predicting outcomes based on personal opinion. This Investor chap is a name that gets spouted around on this thread and I'll guarantee you this: If he is a big winner he will be doing the opposite to what he tells anybody on here. So if he is telling Smithy to lay under 6.5 goals @1.01, you bet your life he will be taking his money, boosting his liquidity and when the early goals or 4-3 scoreline hits he'll be booking a flight to the Carribean.

You can't win backing odds-on, you will be 5% up after 500 bets, 5% down the next 500. But if you are backing the unexpected like laying @1.01 that is where the big money makers make their cash IMO.

unbelievable , you couldnt make it up , theres some serious weirdos on here & entirely misguided in what they are saying , i'm not the slightest bit interested in the outcome of any of those events , dont you understand this iquit the result of any event you referred to is immaterial & most of those you referred to above I won on so thanks for that - btw hand picked selective egs going back months this must have taken you hours , what a serious stalking perv - you related to hejik ?

if you still haven't got it I'll spell it out - we are trading prices pre ko , predicting which way the prices will go & in nearly all of those they went the way I predicted for the reasons I gave - kenny you old git there's no excuse for you - you spend half your life on here trolling and you still dont understand what we do - stick to your 1.33 shots grandad - DOH

It does amaze me to the extent people go to argue the point about how bad someone is at their betting ..... given that these are the exact same people you are trying to take money from.

Yep it does take a while to sink in ..... the laughable part is when they refer to "protecting others" ..... simply shows them up to be amateurish at best Wink
By:
sweetchildofmine
When: 20 Mar 13 16:29
''protecting otheres'' yet you never ever see them on threads such as...

wonder why? anybody would think the title of green armies thread was misleading

No need to take offence you are in the majority. I repeat these were not hand picked, these were all of your predictions in order with no winners left out. Like I said I did it for my benefit more than anything to research human predictions and see if I can make money out of going against the dream team . Again you may have been thinking about 'trades' but subconsciously you were making predictions (it's human nature don't get offended). I could give you celebrity tipsters bets and it would be the same story. Didi Hammann, Cascarino, McGovern, lay them all.

Newcomers to Betfair might follow these clowns and think this is easy I'll stick a grand on Arsenal and a couple of hours later I'll win 50 quid a day before the match has even started! ...how wonderful. But they listen to bad advice and they are left with a 100 loss or risk it going IP.

They may get caught out thinking laying goalscorers is easy peasy and again do there dough when Torres or Defoe hits the net.

They make lay the draw in every Test match and hit two on the bounce in New Zealand.

Or they may take up horse racing as it's a  Mugfest and bet every favourite because 'they always get backed in' and can expect to trade out in 3 minutes. Unfortunately the horse has drifted 20 ticks and the newcomer doesn't know what to do.

As a former spunker of money in betting shops as a young gun in the 90s, listening to bad advice, the likes of which you lot dish out on here, I feel it my duty to protect the newbie. Take your shi t elsewhere because I'm not buying in. ALL BETS ARE OFF

15 years to find an edge and post my bets here....okay. I hope you told all of your fans about the rain in New Zealand? If so you are forgiven but a well-known strategy will not last forever. If you're winning, someone is losing and they'll be losing on purpose to catch the big fishes later down the line. Mind you I don't think the Chinese play cricket so you haven't got to worry about the smart money. If you would like a football betting challenge I am more than happy to accept the offer Wink

But I've gotta go now, Kempton and my dinner is calling, sigh...I might just adapt Smithys trading horses strategy, it's got to be easier than trawling through hours of form and videos. Have a nice evening.

i cant actually argue with that becuase i don't post all my bets so fair enough. what you said about investor though couldn't be further away. a 4-3 game would be very bad for him and he will be backing 1.01s not laying themCrazy

this won't go down to well but no point in lying.i'm currently training up a student from manchester on how to pre off trade on football.how has he done so far? he was on nearly all the under 2.5 trades i posted but lost on the liverpool trade last saturday showing a decent profit overall.

now i have football training at 6:30 then i'm going to nandos with a few friends after so please don't go to mad i won't be able to reply much tonightScared
