You seem to believe that "these carribean outfits" aren't as good as UK ones, at least that's implied.

Pinny is the best bookmaker in the world (actually betfair is probably better if you class them as a bookmaker technically), where they are based is nothing to do with their ability to run a book efficiently, take large bets and pay out. You seem to think it is.

In fairness if you don't know who they are, the chances are you shouldn't be betting.

Ok godd Lori.
Now you're starting to answer my very honest, straightforward questions.
You've never experienced any problems. That's good to hear.
Can I go one further and ask, have you bet in any size at any of them ?
Have you withdrawn substantial winnings from any of them ? I'm sure a lot will be interested to hear and learn from your personal experiences. Thsat's what the forum is, or should be, all about.
Also, I really would like you  to point exactly where there were any racist overtones, either implicit or explicit, in any of my posts on this subject or any subject in fact.
Also, please point out exactly where on this thread I said people were wrong. I agreed with many posts and the posts I disagreed with, I stated my reasons why ?
Never did I say I was right and others were wrong.
Until then, or unless you apologize, you're still a coward in my books.

I've had large balances on Pinnacle after winning a bet back Blackpool to win Liverpool. They are excellent as far as I'm concerned.

You should check bookmaker review and independent sites like that. Instead of asking one or two people for their views, you can see comments from a lot of numbers.

Of all the betting companies in the world, there are only four that have the highest rating: Betfair, centrebet, lads and pinnacle.

I can multi-task.
Seriously my betting is systemised, all in place before the offs, and so doesn't take up all that much time.
I admit I have far too much free time on my hands, and spend probably too much time of it on the internet.
But I swim and drink like a fish everyday, so it's not all too hard to bear.
But one thing I never do is back off from a fight or take cowardly cheap shots at people.
I can't abide that. Never will.
It's not me who thinks he knows everything on here.
It's certain other tossers who can't stand it when they're called out to account for what they say they know or claim they do .
They present things as facts, not me.
I simply question when I think they may be bullsh!tting the pants off everybody, and they just hate to be disagreed with in any manner.
The confident, no bullsh!tters on here have no real problem in debating with me.
It's only a small minority of wafflers mostly.
Generally people are receptive to contrary opinions, but not all I'm afraid.
I have no doubt that many times they are right in their opinions and I am wrong.
But I never slag people off because of my insecurity in my beliefs.
And that, in a nutshell, is what happens on here quite often. Not only to me but to others.
Although it seems recently that it is only with me.

If you're accustomed to betting on racing, then it's unlikely that these books will be any use.

But if you're into US sports, then it's likely you will be appalled at how quick the UK firms are to limit and obstruct.

Bf (& by implication other exchanges) and Ladbrokes are the only two firms that have never dicked round with my account. Ladbrokes still have inconsistent and undisclosed limits on bet size.
Report The Investor November 2, 2010 10:29 PM GMT
Ladbrokes limited me to a couple of tenners after using them for 2 months betting only on big football matches in the main markets (to win) EPL, Europa League, Champions League etc.

Pinny is very good for football (soccer), but you don't get many markets (no correct score for instance).
Report squigs November 2, 2010 10:53 PM GMT
Bookies here would use Pinnacle for hedging, they will accept large six and occasionally seven figure sums on certain games.

Pinnacle aren't that well known over here and they are secretive about their revenues etc but I would assume they would be a big player in their own right.
Report The Investor November 2, 2010 11:10 PM GMT
Yeah, there even secretive about who actually owns it!
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR November 2, 2010 11:53 PM GMT
It would be nice to know who owns them, and what their reps. are if they are individuals.
And how on the ball the appropriate regulators are?
I know after all the recent revelations at how inefficient the regulators proved to be in the GFC, that they cannot be really relied on no matter who or where they are..
But I still like to know generally whom I'm sending my money to if and when I open an account.
BF and most of the High St bookies are at least relatively safe and above board in that key area.
I know BF is in Malta etc but there are pretty clear tax benefits to that.
Whilst there are certainly tax benefits in setting up in the Caribbean, there are also other factors which come into play, regarding the whole legality of what they are doing from these places.
The US authorities seem to be incessantly hounding them, from what I read in the general press.
And let's face it, and I'm not being racist or anything else here, these Caribbean jurisdictions do attract all sorts of low lifes and fraudsters.
And no, I'm not talking about me, jus to pull the legs out from under any totally predictable comments on this from the usual suspects..

i will rarely use betfair above pinnacle, pinnacle just have better odds.

In fact with US sports pinnacle and a few others have better odds than betfair, with football then the asian sites plus pinnacle move faster and have better odds - with tennis then pinnacle will often move first and there are other sites that know their stuff...traditional books and betfair will fall in behind them in time.

Horses I havent a clue, but for all other sports, betfair is almost never number one for a punter hunting for best price.

The competitiveness of books such as Pinnacle (for US Sports) and SBO (for football) is clearly shown by the fairly horrific liquidity on BF in the major handicap markets for these sports. After commission there's no point playing on betfair, so people don't.(handicaps being wrong is another problem of course, plus no full point handicaps on US).

I'm pretty sure it would be possible for liquidity to be taken out of many other markets too if bookmakers had the right ideas and the right people implementing them. But they're risk averse, which is how this thread started.

Isle of Man I believe. When I first used them I thought their site was a bit backward and, if i hadn't known better, may have thought it was dodgy. Had no problems at all though. They are very football centred. The limits on the other sports I have bet on with them are low.
Report Avocado November 3, 2010 9:35 AM GMT

Report JamesBlakesHugeArse November 3, 2010 9:37 AM GMT
sbo are great, limits rise the closer you get to the start - football limits always good, 5 figures for major matches sometimse.

Other sports not bad either, especially major US sports, could do with raising tennis from 417 max and college football from early 42 max but apart from that no complaints.

neither pinnacle nor sbo ban people for winning (that i have heard)

both sbo & 188bet (who are also good) are regulated in the Isle of Man

I believe SBO limit you in time, but it's not an overnight thing and I think you can still get $100 on three times per event (along those lines), so although it's useless to a lot of people, "normal" people can at least still have a bet.
