new to trading

i layed a underdog football team earlier and when the favourite team scored the odds went up so i backed it thus greening up but when i then tried to put the green up total on the favourite it said not enough money in account or i have gone over my exposure am i doing something wrong or are betfair making a mistake? any help would be grateful
