I did very well for about 3 months the back end of last year, making about 3200. Then within a week of each other most bookmakers would not take my bets. I would still be doing this today if I could find a way to get round this problem. I've tried opening other accounts with different details but this did not work I was already known to them.
So can be done for short time but big problem to over come long term. |

Where did you find your arbs Mike?
|
By:
I used a product called Value Horse Finder (will try and find web address for you). Once up and running it found arbs not only on horses to win but also win and place.I think it cost about 100. For me worth every penny.
Hope this helps Mike |

Thanks Mike, appreciate that..

beats me why the bookmakers close arbers down. If they advertise a price on an event or horse race they want customers to have a bet at that price, no-one has forced them to advertise it.
From what I have read about it the bookmakers have the same chance of coming out on top with an arber than with a normal gambler, the only difference is that the arber is not worried if the horse wins or loses. |
By:
If anyone can help me how to set up a new account with bookies please do. It is so annoying to miss out on arbs. There has already been 2 good ones this morning.
|
By:
It is impossible to arb between here and bookmakers for any period of time.
|
By:
Trader read my above post you have to find a way round bookies closing your account down.
Mike |
By:
If you take a look at this blog http://betstobefair.co.uk/ I'm pretty sure thats what he does, he has now found it hard getting bets placed though at bookies. I think he has some facebook group going of an afternoon that discusses the arbs available.
It's something I keep meaning to do or look at more but the way bookies shut down your accounts if you are succesful puts me off putting any effort into getting it started. |
By:
try to find arbs where u win on betfair and lose with the bookies. thats the way to stay alive long term.
|
By:
arbboy I tried that and had three winning bets on the bounce 25/1,33/1,50/1
What is the odds on that? |
By:
Mike, if you are winning backing at those sort of odds you don't need to wory about arbing :D
|
By:
be a man and back the bets on here
|
By:
TalkBet, yes wouldn't that be good.It is the only time in my betting life (stretching back to my first ever bet on Dancing Brave in the 86' Derby)(thats 1986 not 1886) that I have been in front by any decent amount.
|
By:
In the past I have dedicated lots of time to form study. Especially when internet came along. But I suppose I have to concede I have not got the talent for turning what I see in information to winning bets.I take my well worn hat off to all the people who can do this it is a gift.
Good luck to all Mike |
By:
mike see monties thread. you could back his selections at winning bookie accounts and lay on here thus swapping your profits from bookie to here, showing a loss at bookies and not have your account closed. just an idea! dont know how it would work in practice.

i have never made more money from arbing than i am at the minute. all online as well before you say i am coupon arbing in shops. I am a full time arber/punter.
I think if you look in the right places its very easy to get on and very easy to make decent margins. obviously its not in my interest to reveal where u can arb for big stakes but believe me it is possible. |
By:
what would you consider big stakes arbboy.cheers
|
By:
turnover probably 50/75k a day midweek and over 100k at the weekends with online bookies
|
By:
arbboy is a lot/most of your betting done online or through the online bookies, I keep meaning to give arbing a go but don't fancy going out into the cold to trudge round betting offices.
|
By:
ha! wasnt expecting that arbboy.thats huge. amazed u dont have accounts closed!
|
By:
Mike.
I have looked into using VHF a few times but have been put off by the place market terms differing between bookmakers and betfair. eg horse pulls out betfair still pay for 3 places but bookmaker does not. Did you ever find this to be a problem? Thanks |
By:
arbboy, re-read your post and see it's all online, might give it a go sometime

Yes that can be a problem, I didn't start trading till about 30mins before off time sometimes less, this worked better. If I did start early doors I made sure there was/were enough scope in field to handle 3/4 non runners, if needed. For example I would not entertain races with only 8 runners to start. As you say only takes 1 w/drawl and you could be facing a loss. I am not very good at explaining things so hope tis is somehow clear |
By:
Thanks for the reply Mike it makes sense. I think you have a good point looking at races just 30 minutes before the off.
|
By:
I presume the system cannot be used to just find win bets instead of win and place? Due to the win odds on betfair being too high?
|
By:
lpool1
It does both or did do both haven't used software since xmas. There would be a red alert for win and place arbs, and a blue alert for win only arbs. Hope this helps Mike |
By:
I think arbboy is exaggerating somewhat.
|
By:
Thanks Mike. I may buy it and have a look at it and just try win arbs for now.
|
By:
Has anone got a spreadsheet or the calcs for arbing the win/place bookies vs betfair odds ? I just wrote a quick one by matching the win odds and flattening out on the place side but sure there's probably a beter calc to even things over.
Just stuck a bet on to try it out on the first at plumpton to see if this arbing lark works 50 e\w freds 2.38 Swordsman laid back here 50 win @2.34 66 place at 1.16 probably more efficeint races on today but it was the first race I came across and wanted to see if the theory and practice actually work |
By:
Mike, what do you mean "you were known to them" if you used different details?
|
By:
arbboy 21 Apr 11:40
turnover probably 50/75k a day midweek and over 100k at the weekends with online bookies Made me larf !!!! |
By:
Baby Jesus - be careful arbing for a place. If a field of eight has a horse withdrawn, bookies will pay on first 2. Here it is first 3. You could lose both your back & lay.
|
By:
not sure why it made you laugh. depends on ur bankroll and the number of staff/accounts u have working for you.
no reason to lie at all about this. i am not a big poster on the forum just stating a normal day in my working life |
By:
me and you again arbboy? You on the forum?
I post similar numbers to arboy |
By:
tried it. Failed.
|
By:
arbboy I have numerous accounts in various names with about 100 different firms. I would still struggle to get anything close to those figures on.
|
By:
obviously not arbing the 'right' sports and events that bookies like to lay and/or using the right firms to arb with. some firms like arbers and/or dont even know that i am arbing what i am arbing.
i agree most firms who pay 20k a year for mickey mouse 'traders' wont that your action but several do. you just have to be a little bit more 'savvy' nowadays arbing than u used to do. |
By:
i would think only american sports you can get a decent amount on, billy hills for example let me have 1 pence or nothing at all on football but when i check ice hockey the limit is 2000.
I would say if you found an arb it would be gone in under a minute on ice hockey/basketball. Koral are shocking for changing there odds on this must have a robot making sure there odds are worse than anyone else! |
