The Champions League starts back tomorrow and it will be adopting a new format.

The Champions League will be expanding from 32 to 36 teams from this season, with all teams contained in a single table.

That means there will have more rounds of fixtures than before with 17 in total, including eight rounds of group games - running from 17 September until 29 January - and then an extra round before the last 16.

The top eight will go through to the last 16, while teams from ninth to 24th go into a new play-off round.

For the next three years, from 22:00 on the Wednesday of Champions League matchweeks, there will be match-by-match highlights available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app, plus a Match of the Day highlights show on BBC One at 22:40.

You will also be able to follow all the action online and on the BBC Sport app through our live text coverage, as well as listen to radio commentary.

BBC Radio 5 Live will still have live commentary of selected Champions League games this season, while TNT Sport and Amazon Prime Video will show the games live in the UK.

There will also be clips online and on social media.

Tough game for Liverpool. Sunday would have been a rest day, Monday travel day, Tues match day, so there is little time to try and sort out what went wrong on Saturday. I'll be happy with a draw.

Looking at some of the antepost prices for the League Stage, it feels like a lot of teams have been priced up either on reputation or perceived weakness, rather than books doing a deeper dive into each clubs' respective fixtures and their likely range of points based on expected match odds.

just another way of engineering/reducing the possibility of so called elite teams been eliminated in a group of death.bad night at the office scenario, a 3rd ranked group side who might have squeezed through with say one shock away result will now need more than one shock result to progress

its crickets version of super 6.8 etc where England can lose to ire and Afghanistan for example and still qualify and win the cup

Not really, they’re saying 9 points should get you through, so a 3rd pot team can get through with 1 shock result as long as they beat their two 4th pot opponents, which they always had to do in the past also

Whatever happens I can't get round how we'll basically know the teams going through by November. There could be an awful to of dead rubbers, which it was designed to end but I just see potentially loads of them.

If they expand and tamper with the format much more it could become so boring that even BBC and ITV might be able to afford to show some games.

It's much better to finish Top 8 rather than 9th-24th, so there will be some incentive there at least.

6 favs sluiced up last night
one at evens and a couple around 4 to 5,
does anyone use THE FREEZE on a 5 team acca regularly and if so
how do you deploy it
what's the earliest you've deployed it
have you got 5+ acca,s up without you using your freeze ?

in retrospect I could have got a 5 acca up last night if I,d used the freeze and it was my biggest price team,I could and had about 15 mins to use it on EVERTON,but it was very early in the game
