Conflicting reports on Twitter.
Wait for an official source would be my suggestion. |

Lets hope he hasn't.
Good forward for Villa. |

Talk Sport reporter Tom Ross said on X (formerly Twitter), that he had spoken to “someone who would know” and confirmed that Shaw is still fighting for his life. He said: “I have been told that Gary Shaw is still gravely ill in hospital please be respectful to his family who I am sure will update everyone when there is any news.

Just been confirmed by Aston Villa, how sad he was a cracking young striker at AV, helping them win the League and European Cup with his partnership alongside Peter Withe. His career was cut short by injury and now his life has been cut short following a fall, RIP Gary.

Just shy of two years older than me; in other words, far too young. Thread only went up yesterday, which shows how quickly things can turn. RIP

Disgusting post.

I bet Gary Shaw had a sense of humour and would have had a chuckle, unlike the numptys taking offence on his behalf.
|
By:
saw him score a few on THE BIG MATCH repeats on a sat morning few months back, from my era and had a mate who got a contract at villa without ever making starting 11 at same time Gary shaw was playing RIP,you've got to be half decent to make Peter withe look half decent
|
By:
No, mes, that post was in bad taste
RIP, great young player |

I must be the same age as you, Aspro...

Many, if not most on here are now in their 60's mecca, except sparrow who's probably awaiting the King's letter... if not already received
Villa Park will most definitely recognise one of their heroes. Enjoy the trip and good luck; it'll be a tough game to conquer. |

I want to pay respects to Gary Shaw.
I was a huge fan of that Villa team, Gary was a fine player. Really intelligent, found space when available, could play on the turn and with a great eye for goal. He would be worth a hundred mil these days, easily. |
By:
Seemed to be a top bloke.
I played golf a few times with a mate of his and he had some lovely tales of Gary. Sad news, thoughts with friends and family. |

My favourite player as a youth. Think he's the first and youngest player to die from the title winning side. Shoot did a collection of the top 20 strikers around that time, which I've still got. Shame his top level career was cut short very early by injury.
My go to phrase when people get scared because of bad news stories is that "you are more likely to die falling down the stairs" Don't know if that was the case with Gary, but it is surprisingly common. Don't wear slippers on the stairs. They might end up at the top of the stairs with you at the bottom! |

Went to the Villa dinner time to see his funeral procession, not as many there as i thought there would be unfortunately maybe 500/750 people sad really, But Peter Withe shook everybodys hand, and Ian Taylor, Mark Walters and i think Colin Gibson was there, probably others but hard to recognise as we've all got older. Sad day, one lady i spoke to had travelled up from London on the train to pay her respects, fair play to her.
