Yep, same here.
Instead of international break, why not not just give all clubs a decent mid-season break ? Would benefit everybody and would be good for football I reckon. |

What's the alternative though? Players just get together for euro and world cup qualifying games and tournaments?

England will have played 6 games from the start of the Nations league to the end of November, each break is 2 week long, just dedicate 1 month to all 6 games, they play every 4-5 days or so like players do normally anyway in league games/cups. The managers and players benefit, the managers gets all the same players for the same period rather than working with them sporadically and getting different players with each international window due to injury/form etc, the players benefit by being together for a prolonged period of time which is better for team bonding and building up understanding on the pitch. International breaks are a pain in the arse to sit through and next to nobody wants them.

that was the beauty of international football tourny,s apart England would play/tour south America maybe once every 5 yrs, now you can watch Brazil play jamicia at Emirates etc , England playing Finland in div 2 of something called nations LG 6 weeks after playing in euro final is plainly ridiculous

I’m sure I’m not alone, but there was a time I used to get excited about any England game. I’ve missed more games in the two years than I have in the previous forty put together.

As I fully-fledged degen, the Nations League is superb, especially with fast pics. Not sure what civvies get out of it though. A couple of hours peace from the missus?

I don't watch any internationals outside of World Cup/Euros tournaments.
Qualifying and friendlies were wearing my patience as most of those games became increasingly meaningless over the years, and then the Nation's League was introduced, not as an alternative to the other shyte, but in addition to it ![]() They should have a separate international season, 4 games in June in odd years, tournaments in the even years. Could have 1 break in February just so it coincides with the African nations thing, so 2 games there, 6 in total in a non tournament year. Just have 1 big table of the Euro nations, done on an elo points basis. Teams play whoever is nearest in the table, but can only play a team once per 3 years* So when you got to the end of June 2025, if there are 15 places for Euro countries in the WC the Top 15 in the table qualify. *one of the most boring things about it currently is how often the same teams play each other, I think Scotland played Israel 7 times in 4 years. |

Of course if you had most of the internationals in June, and only 1 break instead of 6 in the club season, you could start the PL etc in September and be done by 2nd week of May.
But there is so much rubbish in football that even the teams themselves can't be arsed with ; Carabo Cup should go, Super Cups etc But they are even bringing in more crap with that World Clubs thing next year ![]() |
By:
nothing wrong as it used to be, couple of friendlies during the year , euro qualifiers and world cup qualifiers thats it
|
By:
the business model requires more games, more tournos, more subscriptions. Hence the Club World Cup. Surprised it took them so long to work out a summer without the Euros or World Cup is a wasted one.

By:
I wouldn't be surprised if the big European clubs boycotted the nonsense World club Cup, the managers and players don't want it, clubs would make more money using the time for lucrative trips abroad or playing friendlies in Saudi

of course in a different world , PELE,rivelino, gerson,Alberto, jazinho, etc etc would now be playing for city, barca, madrad,PSG and we,d be seeing them a dozen times a season in the ch LG/EPL.la ,Liga .serial a etc
