Jewish state surrounded by Muslim countries who refuse to play them, massive target for terrorism.

They didn't agree with Brexit.

It used to be a complete anomaly, but there are now nations to the east of Israel which play in Europe. Plus I believe Australia is now in Asia.
|
By:
It's more of an Arab thing than a Muslim thing and goes back to the 70s when they boycotted them and kicked them out of the AFC. Muslim UEFA countries like Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan do not have a problem playing against Israel, although I'm sure they're kept apart from some of them in the draws. It's a security issue really.
|
By:
those Muslim countries in the Arab world are far more aggressive, militant minded and conservative with values than the European ones.

People the world over get aggressive when land is taken from them or people they call kin, whatever their race, religion or politics.
Israel is in breach of countless UN resolutions on Palestine going back decades and it is the support of the west that allows that to continue. They have always sought to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital, as resolved at UN security council in 1967 and which most countries support to this day. When the dust settles on the live genocide we are all watching in 4KHD, while being lied to for 2 years that Russia is genociding Ukraine, every single citizen of the west should ask themselves how they sat by and did next to nothing, didn't even ban them from football. |

Lurka knows the score.

The IRA was a necessary response in the 70s in NI and Hamas is a necessary response since the late 2000s in Palestine when Israel assassinated their own peace-friendly leader. What Isreal has done for decades is 1000x worse than Bloody Sunday.
There is no negotiation with a pariah state. Netanyahu was quoted in 2019 as stating that 'if we want to thwart the formation of a Palestinian state (as mandated by the UN since 1967), we must ensure that Hamas is prominent and adequately funded' (paraphrasing). Hamas has been funded indirectly by Israel since then thru Qatar, where all the Hamas leadership are based. That is the basis of Netanyahu's power. You need a lunatic to deal with lunatics and the madness is perpetuated. You don't have to support that. |

I have no views on the situation but if you talk about anyone owning “ Their land” then I wanted to point out it was owned by Turkey for centuries and various cultures before that. On the same basis Britain belongs to the Celts, Italy to the Romans, Australia to the aborigines etc etc.

It all belongs to the dinosaurs

Not sure it's about owning the land historically. History can be used to argue multiple sides.
If you've got families living there peacefully for the last few generations, and then foreigners coming in from Eastern Europe and South America start calling themselves Israelis and then force you out of your home at the end of a gun, well you can understand why those people would be a bit miffed and might want to organise themselves to defend themselves. |

In response to lurka. The politics forum has been reopened.

Ironically Israel is allowed to defend "herself" but lurka isn't.

People can defend their political positions on the appropriate forums.

it would only take half of the 20 regular posters to turn this into a Furry Sex forum.

Israel play in the European competitions because of their control of European politics.
