Ron **** Liverpools commanding centre half nicknamed the Colossus by Bill Shankly has passed away at the age of 86 following a battle with Alzheimers disease, great Liverpool player at the beginning of their resurgence under Shankly, Rip Big Ron.
I was only a very young lad in his prime so don't remember much of his playing days but he was immense with others in helping Shankly create the foundations for all the success at the club & over 400 games as captain .. RIP to the colossus

Always enjoyed watching him, and I'm a United fan.
Will always remember him chasing Georgie Best round Old Trafford, smiling and shouting at the same time.
He came across as a good guy.
And Scotland must have had damned good centre halfs at the time for him to only get 2 caps - I guess John Grieg and Billy McNeill
RIP, Big Man.
Most of your mates are already up there.

Shankly called a load of journalists in to show off the big guy.
Apparently he said, "Walk around him lads. He's a colossus. With him at centre-half I could play Arthur Askey in goal!"
RIP
