Anyone recommend a make/model of record player?

buy separates, second hand deck amp and buy a set of decent bookcase sized speakers

riga planar or thorens td decks from 80s on are fine, plenty of them about, if you can stretch a linn sondek is better but pricier

lots of choice with amps but choose it once you have the deck as per the speakers, you can add a cheap cd player or tuner at later date if req

Got a denon, with a denon amp, great stuff.

are pretty good for letting you listen to stuff
in store.
