Georgia have a bit more quality than suggested in the attacking third...

Could be a couple of 2-0 results again today, about a 40/1 double
Otherwise England and btts Spain minus 2 Gl all |
By:
Spain will surely demolish this team by serveral goals to nil, last time I saw a price this big was 3 years ago at the Euro's when Slovakia played Spain, Spain won 5-0. Though predicting international football results is far harder than club football.

Georgia had their cup final in the last game and will be content to go home with that. Agree with Mes here, I'm also expecting a comprehensive win to nil.
England, on the other hand, will probably take this game all the way to penalties if the last 3 games are anything to go by. Southgate's stubbornness will prevent what would otherwise be another comprehensive win. If England were to win 2-0, as Reg has predicted, then that would be a very welcomed improvement. |

the only difference now is southgates chums have publicly turned on him repeating what many of us were complaining about for years on the various forums.....he would never listen to us so maybe he will listen to them and put out the correct team for the opposition from a squad that is the envy of most of the countries involved...i hope he does and we go on to distinguish ourselves in the later rounds and i would not complain if he then gets the plaudits as he leaves just so long as he leaves.....

im confident England will win
watching Shania Twain Glastonbury |

I'm not suggest the he tear up the game-plan, and yes, he must have a plan, of sorts, but I WOULD like to see gordon and palmer given a chance.
WTH ? Throw them on for the first half at least, why not ? |

England about to stink the place out tonight.
0-0 0-1 Hope I am wrong and he makes at least three changes, including leaving Kane out. Good luck if you are betting on the match. |
By:
bet has to be a lay of england with a view to greening out
|
By:
Newcastle goalie can't get in England squad.
Newcastle no 2 goalie in goal for Slovakia. |
By:
England should win by at least two goals.
If they were to lose Southgate should be dismissed. Too much fannying about with this guy. Either the players are actually no good, or the manager is no good. |
By:
I think our "big" players are looking a bit jaded.
If he'll give others a go and gets away with it, who knows ? Maybe it could be a vast improvements. Win even. Might give the rested a breather and kick up the marmite highway. I hope you're wrong barstool, but I wouldn't bet on it. |
By:
Why should they win by at least two goals? People just think teams are going to roll over - we saw it last night people were moaning about the Denmark draw but they're clearly a decent team. I'm not debating the way England play is turgid but you cant just expect to turn up and win and batter teams at big tournaments.

Very well said. Slovakia are a very good and solid outfit. It's probably a bit like a Chelsea vs Brighton match. Chelsea with all the fancy players but not flowing as a team. No doubt if England gel they can progress and are favourites to win the tournament.
|
By:
2-0 is not 'battering' a team. How many people would say we battered that team 2-0? I would say none.
If you are ranked massively higher than the opposition then it's not too much to expect a 2-0 win. |
By:
I was expecting a dead cat bounce from England in the 3rd group game but there was nothing.
The team needs an good and nasty electric shock but I doubt Southgate dare administer one. |
By:
England have won five of their six games against Slovakia – however, their one failure to defeat them was at EURO 2016 in their only previous major tournament meeting (a goalless draw in Saint-Étienne).
Opta |
By:
England scored only 2 goals in the 3 group stage matches and we know Harry Kane is carrying a back injury.
Backing England tonight is a high risk strategy. |
By:
If Kane has a back injury he should be rested

By:
We have lowest xg against, this has Southgate purring.
|
By:
So far this tournament Bellingham has been underwhelming and has complained about feeling 'dead' after the 3rd group game.
Southgate says he isn't worried about Jude's fitness |
By:
England should be putting teams like Slovakia to bed in all honesty.
Will be disappointing if we don't beat these comfortably today. |
By:
I'd settle for a come from behind 3-2, or pelanties
so long as we progress. Seen too much football to expect comfort. |

Referee for England v Slovakia , Umut Meler.
|
By:
Southgate to mix things up and field an all out attacking line up?
Very unlikely unless he has an epiphany in the next 20 minutes |
By:
Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier; Rice, Mainoo; Saka, Bellingham, Foden; Kane
|
By:
So no Palmer or Gordon
No way would I back that line up at 1.46 |
By:
If England don't win this one- well.................
|
By:
20c in Gelsenkirchen which at least allows a higher tempo game if the players can muster it..hopefully if it isn't going well Gareth will be a bit braver with subs as well..
|
By:
He does not know brave.
Expect more of the same. |
By:
Hope he lose and Southgate is sacked. Enough now. Let's target the WC
|
By:
just so its not after timing....southgate is a C unt.......
|
By:
A Roy special ; 0-0 @ half time.
0-0 & 1-0 England full time. |
By:
The question I keep asking myself is. If Southgate is happy to include players who are not fit (e.g. Shaw and possibly Kane) and he is missing Phillips so much. Why not just take Phillips? I know it's an absurd proposition, but if you take Southgate's reasoning to its logical conclusion then Phillips is the most important element of the squad, and you have to take him. Even though we all know he's never going to play.
|
By:
Phillips is an entertainer.

By:
England to win 3-0 and silence the doubters.
