All the top clothes are owned by Billionaires, it's how you spend the cash.
Report mecca May 14, 2024 10:50 PM BST
yep.... same here, I'm getting a bit disillusioned
Report layingisthewayforward May 14, 2024 10:51 PM BST
Man City only 6th in net spend table over last 5 years.

Anyway, UTV!!

Yes but how would Guardiola spend the cash at Burnley?
Report TameTheTiger May 15, 2024 10:25 AM BST
Chelsea and Man Utd have spent more than anyone. Look where they are. You still have to buy the right players. At the end of the day, its 11 v 11, no matter whos playing.

Having owners who want to win stuff rather
than syphon cash into their pockets is important too.

Funny old game when the money goes round and round
and kicks back into the money spenders back pockets.

Having owners awash with money is the all important thing.

Long may it continue

Man City are the greatest contingency plan to ever exist if you are like me and dislike all the historical big teams. I can't imagine ever getting wound up by them winning. Even the greatest story of the last 100 years in Leicester had to cheat to get where they got. The rest of the league just have to play smarter
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 15, 2024 1:15 PM BST
That usually helps ensure they feed the club rather than milk it.

But some rich owners seem to want to take more out than they
put in,...

I can never get massively wound up by City. Small club who hit the jackpot. We'd all be loving it if it was our club.

But the Premier League? How can you have those 115 charges going on so long, while the accused is winning your main tournament year after year. Ridiculous state of affairs.

it's because they've employed the best legal representatives money can buy and they've tied the PL's barristers up in knots

I'm looking forward to see just how the Premier League bottle it when it comes to the charges.

I hardly think the Premier League need to rely on Legal Aid!!!

A huge stroke of fortune for a relatively small provincial club.

Good luck to them though
Report scandanavian_haven May 15, 2024 4:45 PM BST
The premier League have to justify their expenditure to the Premier League clubs who own them and can't carry on legal cases forever, is what the legal expert on talksport said.
Report duffy May 15, 2024 5:15 PM BST
Surely the other prem league clubs are saying spend us much as you like on it, just nail them.Grin

Look at the cash united, chelski and all the other clubs spend and fail miserably.

City are only up before the judge because someone hacked their emails.

You can bet your bottom dollar, now and in the future, any owner wanting to financially dope their plaything will not communicate electronically or commit anything to paper.
Report duffy May 15, 2024 5:29 PM BST
What's going to happen is, the Prem have wanted to look tough by levelling the charges at City in the first place, in the interim however the prem will cite just how unstable the league became this season with the points deductions suffered by Everton and Forest and abolish deductions in future thus saving City from any potential threat of relegation.

If you were a cynic you could argue that Everton and Forest were both unwitting bit part players in the bigger game to allow City off the hook.

'Another Prem League won by the rich'

who is the poor in this context?
Report rothko May 15, 2024 6:12 PM BST
If Cheaty are innocent of the 115 charges it would be in their best interest to clear it up quickly so there are no doubts over the trophies they have won

The fact that they want to string it out as long as possible using all legal means available would surely indicate they have something to hide

The Newcastle owners could quite easily blow all the clubs out of the water financially but it would seem to me that they have not risked financially doping the club in the early years by inflating for example sponsorship deals
