this is where the title will be decided this season, a City win and the title is theirs, a draw or loss and it's Arsenals, as both Arsenal and City will win their home bankers against beach teams on the last day of the season.

I don't buy Tottenham players will down tools, none of them grew up on the Arsenal/Tottenham rivalry, none of them care who wins the title but a lot of them are playing for spots in their national team and they have a chance of CL.

Having said that, it's all probably academic as City really should be winning this game anyway.

If Tottenham go ahead early, will be funny seeing no fans celebrate the goal!

An unfortunate result for football generally, one team winning thr PL 5 out of last six seasons. Difficult to fault City players they are straightforward in the way they play, no cynical play at all really.

Spurs gave it a go and did well for 35mins then seemed to struggle playing the ball out of defence. Vicario was excellent ; for me Son was a massive disappointment, culminating in his horror miss late on, the turning point of the game. Oh well onwards to West Ham’s final game with Moyes in charge. Last chance saloon…

Tbh, nobody really expected anything different but the effect it had on Ange was very apparent.

Contrast that with the game 48 hours prior. There was no talk of ManU chucking it or their fans cheering for AFC.

Report lurka May 15, 2024 11:14 AM BST
If Arsenal were going for it with Liverpool you'd have seen the same from United fans imo. They seem to have no problem with City winning if Liverpool lose out.

Report TameTheTiger May 16, 2024 9:14 PM BST
Liverpool have lost just 4 league games this season, failed to make top 2. In 2018-19 they lost just once, but didnt win the league. In 2021-22 they lost just 2 games, and didnt win the league. Its really difficult to beat Man City. 7 games lost over those 3 seasons and didnt win it in any of those years. Quite remarkable. And yet, despite being champions in 5 of the last 6, soon to be 6 of the last 7 seasons, Man City have only won one European Cup. It must be really difficult to won one of those. Liverpool have six.
Report Aspro May 16, 2024 9:38 PM BST
Don't get me wrong TTT, Liverpool are a class outfit, in general, but this year they were not in the class of Arsenal or City, as the above post implied. We all expect Liverpool to be there or thereabouts, so nobody should be surprised where they have ended up, but they were a long way from a class outfit this year and looked vulnerable in a lot of games, a few of which they scraped a win, rather than impose themselves as we are used to. Wasn't impressed with them at all tbh.
Report scandanavian_haven May 16, 2024 9:40 PM BST
Much easier to win the European Cup before 1992, much harder after 1992 with more games and stronger teams from stronger leagues replacing dud league champions from farmer leagues tbf, Liverpool's 2005 win though was remarkable, the Milan 11 they beat in the final was a who's who of football.
Report TameTheTiger May 16, 2024 10:12 PM BST
Aspro. Howard stated that 3 teams are different class. Liverpool may not have been as good as Man City and Arsenal this season, but they have still been 11 points better than anyone else this season.
Report TameTheTiger May 16, 2024 10:18 PM BST

Some belated thoughts on this charade.

They embarrassed themselves on the word stage, it's something that will never be forgotten and will never be allowed to be forgotten.

The week before, you didn't see Man United fans desperate for Arsenal to beat them to stop their City rivals win the league did you, and that's a bigger rivalry than Arsenal Tottenham. That's because Man United fans are used to success and therefore see success as success on the pitch, whereas Tottenham do not know what footballing success, tastes, feels or looks like, they demonstrated a small club mentality where their only knowledge of success is stopping someone else being successful, thee most pathetic fanbase in world sport.

So much so it completely perplexed, mystified, bewildered, disconcerted and visibly saddened Ange to the point of no return, he wont be there much longer, as the week rolled on you could see the penny dropping, that he was manager a club with a loser fanbase. They're so pathetic, 60,000 fans actually turned up to and paid 60 odd quid to cheer on the other team. These mugs who keep talking about how much they hate Arsenal and the 'rivalry, what rivalry ? just because you are the nearest local team that doesn't make it a rivalry, you are as much a rival to us for silverware as what Barnet are in that case. Arsenal have won the league 6 times and finish runner up 8 times since Tottenham last won the league (before the moon landings), Tottenham have won 0 titles and finished runner up twice, Arsenal have appeared in 10 FA cup finals since Tottenham last won it in 92 and won nine of them. We're in the same league but we're in different leagues. The hatred part is also funny, Arsenal moved to North London in 1913, TOTTENHAM WERE IN MIDDLESEX, you were not even integrated into the capital City til some 50 odd years later, you moved onto our patch Laugh

Tottenham fans remind me of those tragic, small minded Welsh players and no doubt fans, who in 2016 celebrated raucously in the dressing room upon hearing England had just been knocked out by Iceland, the irony being England would not bat an eyelid at Wales result whatever they may be, the same as Arsenal finding Tottenham's results completely irrelevant to them. Little man syndrome. You care about us when we don't give a flying fk about you.

Kind Regards.
