Likely banned in Ireland now with the way things are going over there.

Suggestive lyrics
Report SirNorbertClarke May 12, 2024 5:11 PM BST
Who's got a match for striking
Don't say it all depends
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends

Who's got a light he's hiding
Under a bush or fence
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends

It's possible it may not last a night
While it burns, what a wonderful light

Who'd like to play with fire
After they can make amends
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends

Who doesn't mind a reaper
After he's sown wild oats
Who wants to take a chance and help me
Burn my boats

Who's not a look then leaper
Won't hit warning note
Who wants to take a chance and help me
Burn my boats

It's possible the pace may prove too hot
But then again, it could happen it's not

Who'd like to get in deeper
Not caring if he floats
Who wants to take a chance and help me
Burn my boats

There's S for Scotch that's so direct
And for straight and simple sex
I for invitation to
A close relationship with you
N for nothing bad, no less
S I N that's sin I guess

Who's got a good ignition
Waiting for dividends
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends

Who's really in condition
Won't mind how much he spends
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends it may not last
But it's all in the game, my friend
And while it burns what a fabulous flame

Who has an inhibition
Weaker than he pretends
Who has a notch that's on the handle
Open my door and spurn the scandal
Who wants to help me burn my candle
At both ends

Despite being popular with audiences, the record failed to chart.[3] In a 2009 interview on the BBC series Imagine, Bassey stated:

It was banned by the BBC, and I didn't know why. And I said, 'Why are they banning it?' And my manager said, well—the lyrics may have something to do with it—and I said, 'Yah? But what?' I didn't even know what it was about. I'd never sung a risqué song and I think they purposefully didn't tell me so that I could give it that innocence.[4]

unfortunately for you lot we will adapt yoghurt will die Laugh
So says AI
Body percussion is the practice of using your own body to create rhythm. It’s a fantastic way to build musicality and make music without any instruments. You can use various parts of your body to produce rhythmic sounds, including:

Hands: Clapping, snapping, and patting.
Feet: Stomping.
Other body parts: You can get creative and explore different ways to create percussive sounds by hitting your chest, slapping your cheeks with an open mouth, clicking your tongue against the roof of your mouth, grunting, or even hitting your buttocks12.
Body percussion is often used in music education because it allows students to directly experience musical elements like beat, rhythm, and meter. Plus, it’s accessible to everyone since our bodies are the original musical instruments!

I usually trust Wiki these days but I'm pretty certain I heard a lot of those on the BBC.
Report Aspro May 12, 2024 7:01 PM BST
Most of them weren't banned, per se. The list includes temporary bans and those deemed not suitable for children's programs or banned long after the record was released, due to their ignorance of the content.
Report Aspro May 12, 2024 7:14 PM BST
There are some great disguised meanings in records, some known only by the artist, many of which have slipped through BBC's net. For example, one of my favourites is Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine' which is about alcoholism, but who would have known if he hadn't disclosed this?

Didn't they ban a few songs because of a named brand in the lyrics..

... I remember Paul Weller in his The Jam days saying that they couldn't get "Strange Town" (one of their best, btw) played on radio 1 coz they mentioned Mr Sheen (polish) in one verse

BBC used to produce quality drama and programmes,

Netflix, Disney, Apple, HBO, Amazon all spend more on high quality drama so the BBC are left with the dregs; the dramas the American streamers don't want and the efforts of new talents.

Your average BBC show is either news, reality TV or crappy game shows. On repeat.

Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 14, 2024 4:53 PM BST
Bbc bought Dopesick, it's a good series, and hid it away.

Great acting by Michael keaton, I agree bbc get the dregs
these days but they don't help themselves either
with scheduling, and it's not as if they are bursting
with great shows.
Report SirNorbertClarke May 14, 2024 6:21 PM BST
With their great back catalogue and £4.5bn annual budget the BBC should be smashing it.

It's a national disgrace that the iPlayer isn't PAYG all around the world.
