Chelsea's Cucurella's sole job at corners seems to be holding onto an opposition attacker and the Ref & VAR never given penalties for it.

Not that Cucuella is the only offender but it seems holding is now allowed at corners and free kicks.

When did this change or reinterpretation of the law

When did this change or reinterpretation of the law happen?
Report olddesperado May 11, 2024 8:51 PM BST
Was always the way but it got changed for a few minutes one game so Michael Oliver on VAR could give 115 charges a penalty against Hojlund for putting an arm across Rodri on the edge of the box.

It reverted back to no foul after that.

Howard Webb couldnt explain it as it just matters what ref you get and on which day

its unexplainable

If you hold on its a potential foul that ref can call
at any time, and won't be overturned unless there
is a previous foul other way.

VAR can also pull any holding event to call a pen.

Ref can also call fouls by attackers, but var can
only do so if a goal is scored.

It's a mess as there are dozens of these every game.

Can book players for holding before ball enters play
but seldom do.

That would stop it too.

they could put handbags beside both posts, and players could have a choice to grab a handbag or not,but once the ball goes in play all players must drop their handbags.Laugh
Report brassneck May 13, 2024 3:35 PM BST
VAR could rule if the the handbag was dropped of thrown through the air when the ball was in flight.Grin

Basically, if there is any offense that if it was punished would result in a breaking down of the game it is going to be allowed to be committed unless it happens in an extreme case as the Mengi one on Branthwaite when he point blankly refused to let go.

There would be a penalty at every single corner, however it should still be explored but the authorities don't seem to want to entertain the immediate raft of penalties that would be awarded before everyone got the message that they were serious and stopped holding which would surely be the end result.

Cucurella doesn't let go and he's never punished.

Goalies holding ball over 6 seconds is going to clamped down on.

Penalised by throw in or penalty.... Trials happening
but could be years before applied, if ever..

So boring, even worse than tika taka
