Talk of him taking over at Brighton if the current manager goes to a bigger club.

I am surprised he has not been mentioned more in some of the other current / upcoming prem vacancies.

i certainly wouldnt have minded him being interviewed for the Liverpool vacancy.

Maybe he will keep Burnley up and he will stay there.

Interesting few months for him coming up I reckon

i,m  sure VC tactics of asking defenders, goalkeepers to commit football suicide 20 times a  game is attractive to plenty of chairmen and fans, ? is why

Maybe he will be good long term but getting 20 odd points in the Premier league is not gonna get him a big club.

His best chance will be of City are relegated for cheating and no top coach fancies a season in the 2nd tier.

More likely Burnley will get relegated and he will stay there.

starship, you are definitely SUN material.

As for Kompany it amazed me right from the start of the season how poor his defence was, considering how good a defender he himself was.
Great player, nice bloke but to be considered for another top flight job after - let's be frank - the mess he has made of this season would seem a little odd.
He'll probably end up like Ian whatsisname - remember him -  and end up managing Fleetwood or the like.

a lot of negative posts on here re Vincent.

I dont see it that way..
He took Burnley up with an attacking style of football from the Championship.

He is managing Burnley ffs . no money , limited skills basis and has given them a chance of staying up. Burnley fans love him.

Even if he doesnt the experience will have been really good for his managerial skills in the Prem.

I reckon he is a rising star, he is cool , social media friendly and has a general all round acceptability.

My son ( City fan) reckons he will manage city one day.

Hes definatley on the up IMVHO.

Will do.  Always willing to see the good guys progress - and he is clearly a really decent bloke.
And, always willing to be proved wrong.  Love

Yes loyal a very likeable chap I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing him at United wouldn’t bother me in the slightest he was x city.
Report jimnast May 7, 2024 10:49 AM BST
That said it wouldn’t be kind expecting him to sort that mob out.

I’d have him at Westham

jimnast, I couldn;t believe it when last week I idly looked at the table and saw that United had lost 12 from 36!  Unheard of since my youth and various desperate Busby replacements.  It dawned then that Raff. wouldn;t tolerate that and so it seems from press reports.
Don;t know who they bring in but it is a momentous decision that needs to be absolutely spot on.

Without trying to guess your age LH,

Fergie lost 13 league games in 1988-89 and 16 games the following season...

would have been long gone in this era..
Report s.kenbo May 8, 2024 4:32 PM BST
I can’t remember if it was the FA Cup or Cup Winners Cup win that saved Fergie at Utd. Things could’ve been so much different. Almost his Sliding Door moment.
Report brentford May 8, 2024 4:36 PM BST
the 3rd round game away at Forest in January 1990 is the one that always gets referenced and though some claim he wouldn't have been sacked...it feels very likely he would have...

they won the FA Cup vs Palace that year and went on to win Cup winners following season against Barca (you may well know all that)..
Report s.kenbo May 8, 2024 4:38 PM BST
I did. I remember the Lee Martin goal well.
Report brentford May 8, 2024 4:43 PM BST
sweet goal that..Cool
Report s.kenbo May 8, 2024 5:07 PM BST
It was. I think the Palace replays kind of made Wrighty too?
Report brentford May 8, 2024 5:11 PM BST
Wright was fantastic in the first game (sub)...had been injured..

Utd kept him under wraps a bit more in the replay and Les Sealey had come in for Jim Leighton which was a massive call but worked..
Report s.kenbo May 8, 2024 5:30 PM BST
I just googled to see what Sealey was up to these days. I don’t remember his death at all.
Report brentford May 8, 2024 5:34 PM BST
yep, way too young...very sad..was covered at the time tbf on news and sky sports but if you miss the day it's announced ..easily done..
Report LoyalHoncho May 8, 2024 11:00 PM BST
I suppose so Brentford.  I had forgotten that.  I don;t see this guy Ratcliffe considering it though in ten Haag's case.
Report brentford May 8, 2024 11:10 PM BST
feels unlikely..

things that might yet save him are so much change going on above him in the club and limited options of proven decent managers (that also want the job) that are available..we'll see..but has started to look as though the whole thing has got away from him..
Report lurka May 8, 2024 11:18 PM BST
Surely the Luton manager deserves more credit than this guy. Spent about 80m less since promotion, 100m less since he took over and a much better chance of staying up.
Report brentford May 8, 2024 11:31 PM BST
Brighton might be a better fit for him (Kompany) as he clearly wants to play a controlled possession game and Burnley just haven't had the talent to do that once promoted..he's got a bit more pragmatic of late but does seem to have had a surprisingly easy ride in the media...
Report brentford May 8, 2024 11:33 PM BST
jimnast would be in a very small minority in terms of him coming to Utd...and fairly certain he wouldn't want to..
