Maybe he will be good long term but getting 20 odd points in the Premier league is not gonna get him a big club.
His best chance will be of City are relegated for cheating and no top coach fancies a season in the 2nd tier.

As for Kompany it amazed me right from the start of the season how poor his defence was, considering how good a defender he himself was. Great player, nice bloke but to be considered for another top flight job after - let's be frank - the mess he has made of this season would seem a little odd. He'll probably end up like Ian whatsisname - remember him - and end up managing Fleetwood or the like.

I dont see it that way.. He took Burnley up with an attacking style of football from the Championship.
He is managing Burnley ffs . no money , limited skills basis and has given them a chance of staying up. Burnley fans love him.
Even if he doesnt the experience will have been really good for his managerial skills in the Prem.
I reckon he is a rising star, he is cool , social media friendly and has a general all round acceptability.
My son ( City fan) reckons he will manage city one day.
Hes definatley on the up IMVHO.

jimnast, I couldn;t believe it when last week I idly looked at the table and saw that United had lost 12 from 36! Unheard of since my youth and various desperate Busby replacements. It dawned then that Raff. wouldn;t tolerate that and so it seems from press reports. Don;t know who they bring in but it is a momentous decision that needs to be absolutely spot on.

I can’t remember if it was the FA Cup or Cup Winners Cup win that saved Fergie at Utd. Things could’ve been so much different. Almost his Sliding Door moment.

the 3rd round game away at Forest in January 1990 is the one that always gets referenced and though some claim he wouldn't have been sacked...it feels very likely he would have...
they won the FA Cup vs Palace that year and went on to win Cup winners following season against Barca (you may well know all that)..

Wright was fantastic in the first game (sub)...had been injured..
Utd kept him under wraps a bit more in the replay and Les Sealey had come in for Jim Leighton which was a massive call but worked..

things that might yet save him are so much change going on above him in the club and limited options of proven decent managers (that also want the job) that are available..we'll see..but has started to look as though the whole thing has got away from him..

Surely the Luton manager deserves more credit than this guy. Spent about 80m less since promotion, 100m less since he took over and a much better chance of staying up.

Brighton might be a better fit for him (Kompany) as he clearly wants to play a controlled possession game and Burnley just haven't had the talent to do that once promoted..he's got a bit more pragmatic of late but does seem to have had a surprisingly easy ride in the media...
