Reg, as a former pro, can you explain the logic how the same players can play much better after a manager gets sacked? It happens with alarming regularity. Are the players not giving 100% for the previous manager or were previous results down to the previous manager`s bad management? If it`s the former, then it is not very professional behaviour by the players and not fair on the sacked manager.

Hi, mighty mac Not saying my opinion is more accurate than anyone's else's but...
Gonna sit on the fence a bit and say it could be that the previous manager's tactics were so bad, that the players didn't understand or couldn't implement them. And the new manager just had them go back to basics, for want of a better phrase.
Or, they had completely lost respect for him, didn't like him and, as you say, were not giving 100%. And/or, they so wanted to impress the new manager that they all put in a shift that they hadn't done for a while. Without seeing the team he put out, it may be that he restored some players to the team who the previous manager had left out , and you would imagine that they would be double eager to please.
Or, might have just had a lucky day!

Cheers mighty mac, just to clarify, the highest I played was the old Division 3 , League 1 now But, just to add, I can assure you that not every player would be giving 100% in every match, for whatever personal reason or agenda. Stating the obvious, but, you can see that for yourself in most matches. It's just a mirror of any workplace where you have a mix of characters.
