I really enjoyed Better call Saul... I do remember eagerly looking forward to each new series... Wouldn't give it a second viewing though.

Did I ever tell you guys how much I enjoyed Game of Thrones? Love.. LaughLaugh

If early stage dementia hits me, I'll deffo give that a 3rd watch.. Cool

I was anti GOT for years.. Until one summer in a beer garden with the mrs, I overheard a conversation with 2 young men.. One said, he was jealous of the other because he'd never watched game of thrones.. because it's so fantastic and he knew what he had to look forward to...   (something like that) Grin

I gave it a go and to be honest, It took me at least 3 episodes to get snagged.. Love

Breaking Bad I thought at the time was best series I'd ever seen. Then Better Call Saul came along, not much between them I would say. Soprano's, GOT, Dexter ( Give it 2/3 episodes you'll be hooked ). Line of duty all top notch IMO
Report The Dragon June 20, 2025 9:35 AM BST
surprised at the love for BCS on here maybe i missed something but i found it tedious and boring and a really bad follow up on BB.

Maybe i should revisit it.

Just on GOT i did not watch it from the begginning but think i picked it up around mid seasion 2.

i found it totally compelling and binge watched it for a considerable period.

The only critisim i wd have of it was that it was too long (8 seasons) i think and it ran out of steam towards the end. I also found the end a tad dissappointing. Overall an iconic series and defo worth the watch.

Very good show 8/10 for me with its predecessor BB getting 9.5/10.

I feel envious of anyone who hasn't read the GOT books. They are long, but they are an absolutely fantastic read. I've read a few fanatsy/sci fi books, but I wouldn't rate any of them more than a 6.5/10. The GOT books are 9, maybe even 9.5/10. So far ahead of anything else in the genre. And they don't take long to read, despite their length and density.

Better Call Saul is very good; not quite up to Breaking Bad but holds it own. The only anomaly, is watching it straight after Breaking Bad where the characters are clearly older and chubbier, which being a prequel is a bit odd, but if you can overlook that then it's up there.

Mad that in the US they can make stuff like this without any notion that it could influence a jury or affect a fair trial. I enjoyed The Heretic thanks to the recommendation on here.  Agree with some that Hugh Grant wasn't my favourite actor by any means, but I think that was because of the type of film/roll he played.  This is the second production I've seen of him off type and he has won me round.  He's very good playing dark roles which brings me to a recommendation.  "The Undoing" starring Grant, Kidman and Donald Sutherland

From Wiki ... The Undoing is an American mystery psychological thriller television miniseries based on the 2014 novel You Should Have Known.  The Undoing was the first HBO show to gain viewership every week over the course of the season, and was the biggest American series to launch on Sky in the United Kingdom, beating the record previously held by Game of Thrones.[4] It was the most-watched show on HBO in 2020.

I finally got round to watching "The Brutalist" on Sunday and I thought it was absolutely excellent. Three and a half hours, but five hours in total if you include a few breaks for assorted food and beverages. I don't think I would have liked it as much at the cinema where you had to tough it out with no break.

Brody was absolutely outstanding in the lead role as Laszlo Toth, a truly admirable performance. I'd heartily recommend making time to watch it and it's a very solid 8/10 in my book. However, it's not a film I'd ever wish to see again, once is sufficient.

National Geographic have a 50 years anniversary Jaws documentary available, watched it last night, lot's of unseen stuff in it and stuff I didn't know, I didn't know for instance that the chap who played  Brody's oldest son in the film died at 37 from a heart attack, his real life brother now runs a shop at Martha's Vineyard selling merchandise from the movie and in honour of his brother and to celebrate 50 years he did a big giveaway earlier this year......

Todd Rebello, Chris (Michael Brody) Rebello’s brother is doing a fantastic worldwide giveaway for the 50th Anniversary of JAWS! This is what he wrote on June 3rd on Facebook......

In Memory of my Brother Chris Rebello aka as Michael Brody I’d like to announce our 50th anniversary giveaway. I’ve enjoyed the memories of the summer Chris and I were blessed with the opportunity to be in the Movie Jaws. Over the years I’ve collected many items related to the Movie. I want to celebrate this anniversary by giving away most of it to the people that carry the same love for such an historic summer blockbuster. Included in this giveaway will be rare autographs of Chris. As most know he passed away some 25 years ago and hopefully a few collections will be completed. Please understand that we will not sell anything signed under any condition. We want everyone to have the same opportunity. We will be giving everyone an opportunity to participate. One way is during the up coming weeks come by our store South Beach Apparel and fill out a slip with contact info and share a story. Second, for the people who can’t travel to the island you can send in a letter with your info and maybe a note of what the movie meant to you. We will have a box to draw from from each group. We will pay for shipping to the winners. Over the next week I will post pictures of some items and all the info to get us your letter in the drawing box. All we want is to keep this wonderful journey going.
