A trip to the cinema last night to see Substance.... Sci Fi/ Horror. Promised much, but after an interesting 60 - 90 minutes it went downhill for me with the last 40 mins reminding me of a poor episode of Doctor Who.

Also Watched Speak no evil...Psychological Horror, a few days ago, found it Intriguing, bit slow but got going late on. Fair!

This drama tells the astonishing true story of Israel's most prominent spy, Eli Cohen, who infiltrated the Syrian government in the 1960s.

Sambre is very good.

watched American Nightmare on Netflix - Unbelievable and a must watch.

3 part docu series based on the kidnapping of a young women they called Gone Girl- The American police have a lot to answer for - Truley shocking
Report SirNorbertClarke September 28, 2024 8:14 AM BST
Apart from a few bad apples in the UK we tend to have very well trained and reasonable police. This combined with a thorough judiciary gives a feeling of near complete safety.

In America the police can have very little training but they all carry guns and the judicial system can be downright shoddy.
Report s.kenbo September 28, 2024 8:24 AM BST
I’ve watched several of these documentaries on Netflix. The incompetence from the police is what I take from most of them. They seem absolutely useless over there.
Report werbie September 28, 2024 6:29 PM BST
I presume the police have more power in some states than others.
Watching these American documentaries, it appears that the police are trying to solve a lot of murders ect with there hands tied behind their backs.

Report s.kenbo September 28, 2024 7:32 PM BST
I just think the standard of policing over there seems generally poor, especially in the smaller towns. I’ve honestly lost count of the amount of times I’ve watched these true crime shows only to be baffled at the end by how inept the police were. Most of these shows wouldn’t be made if a few of the cops weren’t thicker than the suspects!

Just watched Wolfs, newly released on Apple, starring George Clooney & Brad Pitt. They are two 'fixers' who are inadvertently brought together on a job... neither are happy about it. An action comedy that is amusing in places, but rides like any similar film. Watchable, but no more than 6/10 for me. Rumours of a sequel already; hopefully they'll up the game.

Favourite character was Locke; I enjoyed his scenes more than the rest but Sawyer's quips were amusing throughout. Just watched the 3-part documentary The Murderous Scissor Sisters on Prime (circa 45 mins per episode). I thought it rather a weird handle for the press to give them considering the meaning, but the documentary itself was a pretty a good, well documented look at the case, from the finding of the body (well parts of it) to the ultimate conclusion. If these kind of documentaries are your thing, then this should be considered imo. Now off to bed to dream about something similar, which often follows a late night viewing like this.
