the defining stage was finding her RAV4 (vehicle) soaked in her blood at the back and riddled with Steven Averys blood at the front, also showing a fresh wound on Averys finger.

Soaked and riddled is probably over-emphasising it a little. There was an area of blood in the back and a few blood marks in the front, but here's the catch. The cut was to his right finger that managed to put a small smear on the dashboard and a few other small areas, but not a drop of blood found on the gear stick or the floor, where you would expect to find it.

I'm not saying he is innocent, but it certainly looks suspicious.

MobLand is what you would expect with Guy Ritchie directing and it's watchable.

However..The Irish accents of Piers Brosnan & even more so Helen Mirren are absolutely appalling. Brosnan is Irish so no excuses for him but Mirren, wow, that accent is something else.

Re the discussion on Making a Murderer on previous pages...

I watched it when it first came out, January 2016 I think, so my memory of it might not be flawless.

I found it as compelling as Aspro did. While watching the series I was careful to avoid any spoilers. At the end I felt Avery was likely innocent and had been fitted up.

Then I googled the case and it was jaw dropping to see what the filmmakers had left out; lots of stuff pointing to Avery's guilt, which they said they 'didn't have time for' in a 10 hour programme!

The most egregious IMO was that the victim had a previous appointment at the family business, that Avery had appeared wearing just a towel and had really creeped her out. She told her boss she didn't want to go there again. But the scrapyard was massive and so there were a lot of appointments for her company there. Another appointment was made by 'someone' (likely Avery giving a false name) asking for 'the girl you sent last time'.

That they would not only fail to debunk that, but just ignore it, made the whole series worthless to me.

I think they also heavily implied that the boyfriend may have been the killer, when there was cast iron evidence that he couldn't have been, again that was not mentioned.

It's still possible the cops made sure by planting some evidence, but as Avery is such a vile scumbag I'm not too bothered about that.

Grok.....

Pierce Brosnan uses a Kerry accent for his role as Conrad Harrigan in MobLand. He has stated that he aimed to capture the "sing-song lilt" and "bite" of the Kerry accent, which he developed with the help of a dialect coach and by studying tapes of an unnamed Irish politician. However, his accent has received mixed reviews, with some critics and viewers describing it as inconsistent, exaggerated, or unconvincing, often noting it seems to shift between different Irish regional accents. Despite the criticism, Brosnan’s co-star Lisa Dwan, an Irish actress, defended his accent as "authentic" and fitting for the character’s volatile nature.

I'd love to see a proper documentary about the Cordova Cat Burglar/Visalia Ransacker/EAR/ONS/Golden State Killer in California. They thought they were all different but it was the same bloke. 'Unmasking a Killer' is the only good one I've seen. 'I'll be gone in the dark' is the worst. One of the most fascinating serial killer cases ever. Unbelievable what that guy did and got away with for so long. The most prolific, cunning and devious criminal ever.

He was the reason they brought a direct police 911 phone line in in America and why they set up a DNA database in California. The Hallowe'en movie series must have been based on this guy. Literally the Boogeyman.

Rogan's podcast is maybe 30% info, 20% entertainment and 50% nonsense/chat talk. And that's the best there is but only when the guest is someone interesting to you.

You can summarise nearly every other podcast in 3 sentences in terms of relevant info. Just wait and let someone else do that for you. You'll save huge time. No interest listening to people who haven't got peculiar knowledge or expertise talk about themselves most of the time and speculate the rest of the time, complete waste of your time. 5 mins f new info per hour at best.

Watched the first 3 episodes of MobLand. Brosnan's accent is a Kerry accent and not that bad imo. What's ridiculous is the choice of Kerry accent for a gangland boss, never mind one who's big in the UK. There's barely ever been anything remotely like gangland in Kerry. He's like a farmer who got into drugs somehow.

Mirren's isn't too bad most of the time until she raises her voice or starts singing! There's another Irish blonde girl in it who has a more flat south Dublin accent, her actual accent, that's what most non-Irish are used to hearing on screen.

But nothing special about this show so far. Watchable but the genre's been done to death at this stage.

What are we going to do with all the bad people? Like, really? What are we going to do with all the people whose stories hurl your mind back to a primitive state of lusting for vengeance, or make you long for a simpler time when the conclusion “They are evil” was considered a sufficient explanation and you could proceed with their punishment and society’s protection?

Such are the thoughts that run through one’s mind when confronted with the likes of The Essex Millionaire Murders. The two-part documentary tells the grimly shocking story of the 2023 murders of Carol and Stephen Baxter. They were found dead in their home in Mersea, Essex, by their daughter Ellena. There were no marks on the bodies, no injuries, no signs of a break-in.

Wiki blurb

The series is set in a nightmarish town in the United States that traps those who enter. The unwilling residents strive to stay alive while plagued by terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest as they search for secrets hidden within the town and beyond in the hope of finding a way out.

The series centers around Boyd Stevens (Perrineau), the self-appointed sheriff and de-facto mayor, and the Matthews family, new arrivals to the town who soon discover that they are trapped along with the other existing residents, and must work together to stay alive and find a way to escape.

There's anoter decent Irish gangland crime series called Love/Hate which has 5 or 6 seasons. It's similar with Aiden Gillen as the boss at the start (the least convincing actor as a gangland boss - no idea why he's ever picked for a role like that - also another actor who wears a hoodie and a leather jacket for the whole 3rd series, doesn't even change his clothes when on the run for murder). When those two get killed off, the lesser known actors take over and it actually becomes pretty good. The main characters are pretty convincing then too.
