Sudden and sustained flow of money suggests Gerrard may have already departed or has one game to save himself.

End of the Messiah then

I presume Villa are favourites to win at Fulham because people are sure Gerrard will be gone by then and the players will be lifted by his departure and will play better.

They surely won't be favourites if Gerrard is in charge for that game.

several newspaper articles, claim Gerrard has already been sacked, however there has been no ''Official statement'' released from the club.

One thing for sure, whoever replaces Gerrard may have a short-term reaction, however long term they will continue to struggle with the funds they have available. football is very much a finances game now

He's on a reported £10m a year with 2+ years left. No surprise that he's sitting tight and waiting to be sacked. It will cost him £10m+ if he walks and he won't get paid that much elsewhere, so maybe £20m+ in total if he walks.

£10m a year, never thought it was that much. No wonder he left Celtic with that on offer.
Any idea what sort of money Stevie G is on?

Aston Villa DENY 'complete lies' of a report claiming Steven Gerrard has already been sacked... despite the club 'targeting Mauricio Pochettino' in case their dire form continues.

Should have been pushing the price out on Betfair all morning then.....mmm, no

I think Rodgers was on £5m initially but they gave him double that and extended by 3 years to 2025 after only 9 months in the job. The salary increase is from the tabloids, so not reliable but I think it was to ward off the likes of Arsenal who were looking for a manager around then.

And so it is, Gerrard sacked after less than a year for failing to turn a bottom half team into anything better than a bottom half team. Next

Well even though Gerrard was still in charge, Villa remained favourites to win tonight's game.

Maybe the thinking was the players would put in extra effort because they didn't want Stevie to get the sack..........

good call.

They played like a team who gave nothing for the fans or manager tonight.

I just think the players are almost to a man bang average.
