Impossible task, anything by 'Talk Talk' or Depeche Mode works for me but to name just one I'd go for "Brilliant Mind" by Furniture.
An absolutely immense song and it's still in my playlist some 35 years after first released.

yep, very sad stuff - my older brother was a huge fan and I picked up on their stuff later...was a good biopic (hope that's the correct term) film about his life which you may well have seen..can't remember it's title sadly..

yep, great band Slippy... one of my few vinyl credits is that I own the entire 7" Jam singles collection...sadly some were bought in woolies or corner shops so not all have the authentic covers...

Such a broad decade, many bands starting out who were still going strong 10 years later, when I first saw this thread title the first to spring into mind was Party Fears Two by the Associates... as noted above, an impossible task...

West ham 4_1 Tottenham at Upton Park Christmas 1983 I think,as a young Tottenham fan,met 2 friends in a pub all pre arranged,no mobile phone tem days. We were behind the goal west ham ed,luckily one of my mates said get rid of that tottenham scarf, or you will get killed,so I shoved it down the front of my trousers. Every time West ham scored I cheered lol.
West Ham hammered spurs, excuse the pun, my one outstanding recollection was Alvin Martin he was immense that day,my other memory on the tube with all West ham fans, hoping my scarf would stay hidden. Happy Days

The Mrs was a big deacon blue fan, so got to see them several times.
Excellent live, and enjoyed his story about visiting newcastle to watch a football match with Dundee United.
