on sundays when i was a kid we always used to visit my gran in norris green liverpool. my dads family were liverpool fans and my mums family were evertonians.
we all sat down to watch sunday football on itv and gerald was invarably commentating on a NWest big game. We all enjoyed listening to his impatial and informative commentary as well as his distinctive voice.
it brings back memories of real football and days when football was about local commumties and football for what it was ,, fantastic entertainment and something that got into you phsyci and your emotions.
A great commentator and a sad loss. glad he lived to a grand age and thanks for the memories u gave us all.
